Question about Projection Televisions
My samsung sp46l5h lcd rear pro tv displays ok for 15 mins then picture scrambles into a mush of horizontal lines and colours. if i switch off and allow to cool down picture goes back to normal until tv warms up again. i opened it up and found 1 fan not spinning and fixed it. now all three fans work but still this problem. any ideas?

The color wheel is the most common problem when it comes to noise from DLP's. To determine if it is a color wheel or fan: Turn on the set. When the noise starts, turn off the set. If the noise goes away within 5 seconds, then the color wheel is bad. If the noise goes away after one to one and a half minutes after the set was shut off, then one of the fans are making the noise.

on the signal board replace the caps by the 5/9 volt regulators. c2p04 is the main culprit. 6 caps in total can be changed. I believe c2p05 also.

More than likely its the color wheel there is a bulletin from samsung indicating that a loud buzzing is often related to the color wheel.Let me know if you need to know where to get a color wheel and I will post a link, just include your full model number.

probably the circuit board needs to expand and you have cold-solder joints on it,after board and joints expand they make connection, just wait though this will go the worser of two evils and get progressively WORSE, take it out and re-solder all joints on the DEFLECTION BOARD SOON

Lamp # 1 is lamp fan, Lamp # 2 is DMD board fan.
Lamp # 1 is located behind the lamp.
Pull assy angine out you will fine fan # 2 , clean it or replace it if not rotate properly.
Fans displayed on screen because fans are dirty or air flow not smoothly.

Very common problem. not a common or easy fix though. This is known as a faulty "hypermodule" The hypemodule is a cuircit board that processes the signal. At the shop i have repaired a few a these on average 2 a month. The ideal situation is to replace this cuicit board. However this was such a common occurance these boards became rare. very hard to locate. So toshiba gave service centers another option a way to repair these. It however evolves the replacement of 11 very small micro capacitors. Only the most experence tech's experenced in surface mounted soldering should attempt this repair. You can easly mess this board up and once messed up...like i said you cant find them. My best advice is to find you a qualified shop who has done this repair before. It take an experence tech around 3 to 4 hours with magnifing glass and twezzers. My shop generally charges about 300 for this repair but shops vary based on experence
