Hi! Can you see 6 RCA jacks at the back of your DVD player(2 red, 2 white, 2 black). And if you don't have these six jacks for sound input then you won't be able to use the 5.1 speaker system with your LG dvd player. Check it in your dvd player manual whether it supports 5.1 speaker system.
1. Completely remove any dvd/cd player/burner softwares (i.e. Nero, Power DVD, etc.).
2. Go to device manager and remove your DVD/CD device from the device list
3. Restart you laptop
4. Windows will then try to reinstall the device drivers again for the DVD drive.
5. After another restart, then reinstall your dvd softwares again.
YOU ARE PROBABLY USING 5 SPEAKERS WITH OR WITHOUT A SUB, AND YOU CONNECTED THE REAR SPEAKERS TO THE REAR SPEAKER OUTPUTS. THEY WON'T WORK THIS WAY. RECONNECT THE REARS TO THE SURROUND SOUND SIDE SPEAKERS, AND RERUN THE AUDISY SETUP. THIS SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS AND SET UP THE DVD INPUT, IT WON'T WORK RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX, TOO MANY VARIABLES.
JACK
I CAN'T GET MY 875 TO RECOGNIZE COMPONENT VIDEO SIGNALS, I GUESS I'M STUCK USING HDMI, AND COMPOSIT INPUTS.
Bad connection on that one speaker, if you have tested the system with other equipment and it works thn you MUST have a bad connection INSIDE you DVD player. If your DVD had a whole channel out on your output amplifier I beleive then 2 speakers would not work so more than likely you have a bad solder joint inside system for DVD output
