Re: Cleaning a Canon d760

My cannon pixma ip6000d will not grasp the paper to print. Is there any way to reprogram to get the paper to pull through the printer?

I am not sure of that ,the best way to clean it is to do it manually by having the machine being serviced by an expert .

Bad news, the "golden'" paper is actually a piece of the fuser film of the printer. Out of experience i have found that a new fuser film costs almost as much a a new printer.

Found this link that may be usefull in making a decision whether to replace the fuser or buy a new Printer :)

Sorry for the bad news

When machine is cold and run first copies of anything the black and red ink looks to be running. What is the problem? It does not do it when the machine is warmed up.

Printers that use "toner" (dry ink) rely on heat from the "fuser" unit to melt the ink into the paper. If the "fuser" is becoming slow to "warm-up", then the toner is not getting properly melted into the paper.

Call your local CANON store, and place a service-call.

Check to see if there is paper in the fuser unit, it does consertina in it. I wood use a torch because these are difficult to see without a torch. Take the left covers off to see better.

The ink is smearing when I print from my Canon MP470 printer.

I don't own an MP470 myself so I'm going on what I know of other Canon Pixma models.

The area to the right of the printer is where the printhead parks when not in use and also has a series of cleaning tools which help **** waste ink through the printhead as well as do a sort of window cleaning wipe of the printhead too.

To get to this area:
- lift the printer lid as if you were changing cartridges
- wait for the printhead carriage to move to the center
- pull the power cable out of the printer.

This will allow you to move the printhead manually over to the left side and using a torch look into the right part of the printer.

If you look in this area for any build up of ink and carefully (and I do mean CAREFULLY!) dab any excess ink using material which won't leave any lint or fibres behind.

Cotton buds (used for cleaning ears) are useful for cleaning the "wiper" part if you can identify it.

Once you've done this plug the printer back in and try running a nozzle check and possibly a cleaning routine (not deep cleaning) to see if this corrected the issue.

Did you run cartridge cleaning service from your computer after replacing the cartridges? If not, run cleaning once. If the nozzle check is not clear, there another option for deep cleaning, but i think it will take a lot of ink. Do it for best results. This will work. Are you using photo paper for Photo printing? if so give some time to dry the ink on paper.

Epson C82 & C84 Printers will not laydown any ink!

Sorry but It uses Durabrite ink which tends to turn into hard gel if not printed at least once a week. Its less painful and expensive to just throw the printer out and buy a new one. I recommend the canon PIXMA ip3500. It lets you remove the printhead for cleaning unlike the Epson. If you want to try your luck at unclogging the printer heres a link to a unclogging kit but be warned that results are not guaranteed!

The C82 in addition to clogging also has a problem where the waste ink hose which is supposed to remove excess ink (so the printer dosent get clogged) gets disconnected and so the printer clogs even more. The C84 had this glitch fixed but alot of good that did!

Thanks for reading!

Canon D760 Fuser

Hi Yes when cleaning the fuser you have to be extremly carefull! The fuser can be easily damaged by poor removal or using harsh chemicals. Usually if the fuser is in that bad of shape to where you are having to wipe and clean it your better off replacing the fuser. But again in order to remove fuser you will need certain tools . I hope this helps!!!
