HP 6400 wireless printer will not work with netgear wndr3400v3 router

If the printer is connected via wireless it may not be set up correctly, as a network printer.
Connect it up via a USB cable to make sure it works, then change it to Wireless configuration and re-install it as a network not a USB printer.
see manual

How to install wireless printer in a network

The most common way to install a printer on a home network is to install it as a stand-alone device on the network, and then add a connection to the printer on each computer that is on the network.
Wireless printers use a built-in wireless card and plug into a power source, not your network or computer. After you turn on the printer, you need to refer to the information that came with the printer to set up a wireless connection to each computer on a home network. Security options for wireless printing are determined by each printer manufacturer.

Wireless printing

The printer has o go through a router to work for the other two computers. The only other solution is setting up a wireless network with internet sharing on a HOC and share all file and printer services though it. The main PC would act as a router. for $40.00 you can buy a router and make it work.

2WIRE wireless router/DSL from AT&T

unless this is a wireless enabled or lan RJ45 connectable printer you cannot, the pc that the printer is connected to must be on at the time of the printing.

Wireless printers have their own arial and allocated ip address, Lan RJ45 connective printers can be connected to the router.

Wireless connection between my hp pavilion a6119h pc and my hp officejet 5610

Best option is to buy a proprietary wireless print server device from your local PC world or similar electronics store. They are fairly easy to set up and usually come with full instructions. As long as its set up so your computer or network can see the device, you should have no problems printing from anywhere in the house then without having to run lots of wires.

Wireless printer

it sounds as if the printer may not be set as the default printer, so check in the installed printers and check and also check that the printer you are sending the print to is the setup one and not a pdf or microsoft office document printer, this is found on the drop down box when the print option appears. i am also assuming that the printer has worked before from vista to an xp machine as sometimes xp needs a small update to be used with a vista pc on the network
