Re: Freecom Password Delete

Everything is possible. Few points. Is this external hd? Did you used the software and the drivers given by the manufacturer? Which OS are you using?
Yes it is possible to erase everything on any type of the drive and start from scratch. You can do this by formatting the drive make sure you do NTFS format.
Let me know please!

Data Missing from 250GB Freecom HardDrive.

May be that is hidden..Go to the control pannel look for folder options and then in the view tab check the box show all files and then click ok.

connect it again see if are able to see your files again. if not then there are data recovery tools available on the internet.

But i think the first method will solve your problem

Says 4gb not 250gb.

It sounds like your OS (windows XP+, I presume, as it's NTFS) is reading the wrong partition information from the hard disk.

Use this (free) partition software to delete all partitions on the external drive (and make VERY sure that it's pointing at the external, and not your main hard disk!). delete all partitions; make a new one and see if that is 250 GB.
If yes, format.  Sorted.
If no, you could try editing the partition table directly with this:'ll again have to be careful you're working on the right hard disk.  To use this, you'll need to know the number of heads, cylinders etc.  This data might be on a label on the disk (inside the external drive case), or you might be able to get it from the disk's manufacturer; either on their website or by emailing their tech support.

If editing the partition table doesn't work, or if the numbers keep reverting/changing, then it's highly likely that the hard disk is stuffed.  Only thing to do then is replace the hard disk in the external case (make sure you swap for the same type: IDE for IDE and SATA for SATA); or explore your warranty options.

Hope that helped.  Good luck!

I have a lot of photos on the external Freecom hard drive. I've changed laptops, and have lost the CD, and anyway, can't remember the password! help!

This should not be to hard to recover.

Unless reformatted it is likely that only file indexing problem is the issue.

External hard drives are for copies.
Never allow a to ever be your only copy.

Just choose a drive,
Your Hard drive.
Then click the Scan button.

Hope this Tip helps you.

I recently bought a Freecom 1TB hard drive. It

Is this a SATA drive and what operating system is loaded on it? .
you may have to insert the installation disk to reset the password.
There is a Linux program on the internet to reset the password to default but there is no guarantee to this. This is for Windows XP
2. You can also get some one with a Linux box to view and backup your data on another hard drive but the PC will have to be compatible to accommodate the hard drive capacity.
3. Try not entering a password at all when in the password/ user screen "hit enter"

It should automatically allocate a drive letter to it. Go to windows explorer and hit F5 to refresh the display and you should see a new drive letter with the name of FREECOM next to it.
