i left my car in a garage to get the timing belt changed! after taking the baterry out and connecting it after works were complete, my windows were not opening or closing also my doors were not opening or closing with the remote keys. the garage bought a new ECU to fix the windows issue, but the remote locking still does not work. can any1 kindly spare a few moments to give me some advice on how i can resolve this issue please?
Ok, stab in the dark. turn off your radioand disconnect you battery negative for five minutes, then reconnect.didn't work, ok. Turn your ignition awitch on and of 3 times... Hopefully these two methods of reset for ecu worked. Good Luck, Ned

Unlock all doors, foot on brake, all doors closed. Cycle key quickly but carefully on-off appr 10 times until the car honks one time.
Do not turn the key far enough to start the car, just to the 'on' position so the dashboard lights up.
When the horn honks, open and close the driver's door, press any remote button and that's it.
Program another remote? Quickly open and close the driver's door again and push a button on the 2nd remote. That's it.
When you're done, remove the key and the horn should honk 3 times. You're all set.
Sometime it takes more than 10 on-offs to set program mode. Open/close the door, lock/unlock etc, wait 10 minutes, then try again
There was a minor change for mine to work.. see below..
- you must park your Prius close to the gate opener, leaving it running (obviously not in the way of the gate closing) - Hold the button the the mirror and then push your garage door remote button and hold until the light on the mirror starts to flasyh fast. THIS programs the button on the mirror, but not the garage opener - yet (this was key for me) - locate the "learning button" on the opener itself - press the "learning button" on your gate opener and then get back into the Prius within 30 seconds (more time than it sounds) and press the SAME Homelink button you just programmed above. I don't recall how long I held the pre-programmed button, but the light will flash as I recall. - Then, when working the garage door, you may need to hold the mirror button for a good second for it to work - but I had tried for months to get mine to work, and finally after reading many posts, the above sequence worked on my 2008 Prius with my Lift Master, Security + rolling codes garage opener.
Just - program the button on the mirror with your remote FIRST.. the garage opener will not work.. then use the Learn button on the garage opener and the SAME BUTTON you just programmed.. and it worked great for me. Not programming the mirror button first will not work. Using only the Learn button will not work. You must program the mirror first with the remote, then use the learn button and the SAME button on the mirror. Hope this helps.

Push the button you want to use and hold until the light flashes rapidly. Then hold your remote that came with the garage opener close to the visor with the homelink button that was just flashing push the garage remote button untill the light begins to flash rapid again. Then get a ladder and push the learning button on the garage opener motor. Then within 20 seconds get in your car with the key on to the position just before starting the car and hold the button untill it flashes rapidly ....that should do it...that is how it was done for my 1999 528i

3-insert and remove key once from ign.
4-close and open drvr door twice
5-insert key into ign.,then close driver door
6-turn key to on (not start) then off, twice this is rewrite mode
7-remove key from ignition, the door locks should cycle twice.if not start over.it may take a few tries.
8-press lock/unlock together and hold for a second
9-release,and press lock on remote, the door locks will cycle
confirming program.continue to do other remotes you have, steps 8 and
9.if only one in possession, you are done. To end mode open door or insert key into ignition.
You'll need to follow the steps with no more than a 1-2 second delay between each step.. hope it works
sit in car all doors closed put key in ignition and turn from OFF to ACC 3 times as fast as you can leaving it in ACC on the last cycle then press your remote button. your blinkers should flash to tell you this has worked.... may take you a couple of tries to get it!!
Those buttons are for you to be able to program your garage door opener so that you don't need to have to original clipped to your visor all the time. The procedure is this:
1) put the key in ignition in postition 2 (car not running)
2) hold down both homelink buttons on the outsides of the homelink transmitter (to reset any existing codes) you might have to do it for 20-30 seconds. Red light on homelink will flash rapidly then let go. 3) Now, with the garage remote in one hand and hold the button on the homelink you want to program (keep holding homelink until it pulses, not a rapid flash, takes about 20 sec.) While it is pulsing, hold down the garage opener as close to the homeling button as possible while depressing door opener button also.
Shortly after doing this you will see the homelink start to flash rapidly (this means it is learning the code).
- let go of both buttons once it is flashing rapidly and
4) go to motor of door opener and hit the learn button (a light should turn on)
5)return to the car a press the homelink button you programmed once, twice, or maybe up to three times until you see garage door open/close. You may need to have someone help you with this procedure.
The garage should put this right (I realise how bad garages can be) try googling for a specialist and ring them, it will be complicated without an analyser. Make sure you gave the original garage a option to put their work right, When you get it fixed send the original garage the bill, if they get awkward send them a pay or go to small claims court letter, courts allways go against the garage (i found that out the hard way, courts are way unfair to garages)
Homelink Garage Door Opener Programming Procedure:
The procedure described below was successfully applied to a 2005 Jaguar S-Type.
To begin with, several attempts were made using the programming instructions contained in my Jaguar’s owner’s manual.Though the procedure described in the owner’s manual was straight-forward and understandable, I was unsuccessful in getting the vehicle’s remote to make my garage door opener function. The particular garage door openers I have are both made by Genie. Both openers utilize the “Rolling Code” feature.
To begin with, be sure to clear previous codes on your Jaguar’s garage door opener by first turning (rotating) the ignition key to the “I” position (first notch).Next, simultaneously hold button 1 (left most button) and button 3 (right most button) down until the middle button’s red light changes from continuous on to a rapid flash. This process takes approximately 20-25 seconds. What follows is a two part process. In the first part, get your Genie portable remote and hold it near (approximately 3 inches away from) your Jaguar’s garage door opener console buttons.Choose which button on your Jaguar’s remote you wish to dedicate to your Genie door opener and simultaneously press and hold your Genie opener button and your Jaguar’s opener button. The red light on your Jaguar’s center button (button #2) will light up and within 1-2 seconds will begin to flash rapidly. You have just completed part 1 of the two part process.
Part two:Now it is time to utilize the “Learn” function on your Genie garage door opener.Press the “Learn” button on your Genie garage door opener. The red LED adjacent to the “Learn” button will begin to flash. You now have 30 seconds in which to program your Jaguar’s opener button.Using the same button you just used in the “part 1” procedure, press and hold the same button for several seconds. As before, your Jaguar’s red light in the middle button will light up and within 1-2 seconds, it will flash rapidly.Release the button you are programming. Now, here is the key piece of information!Once again, press and hold that same button.Once again, the center button’s red light will flash rapidly.Release your newly programmed button. This procedure proved successful in my application. Here is what has just happened. The first time you pressed your Jaguar’s remote button tells the Genie opener that it exists and that it is a viable candidate for making your life easier (opening the damn door). The second time you press your Jaguar’s remote button confirms to the Genie’s rolling code that your Jaguar’s signal is legitimate and is to be trusted from then on.
