Re: ram can works dual channel

You need to make sure your ram is identical.....for example if you have one single/sided and one double sided but are both equal in capacity still may not work.......also you could be using wrong memory slots double check your motherboard manual and ensure you are using correct memory slots for dual channel operation...however memory pair mismatch is most likely your culprit

I need to upgrade my pc ram, pulled the ram and infineon is the manufacturer, they no longer make ram so how do I know what other ram I can put in my motherboard, got number from stickers on the...

Look for labels on the RAM: PC100 or PC133 or DDR266 or DDR333 or DDR400 or PC2100 or PC2700 or PC3200.

Since you cited 'DDR400', you need to purchase 'DDR400' RAM.
Any sales-person in any computer-store can sell you 'DDR400' RAM.

I have Intel Orginal 845GVSR motherboard with 2.4 ghz Processor and 256 ddr Ram. Can I increase my Ram to 1 gm with 400 fsb speed

Yes you can, the speed will be increased approximately more than 50%. There's also advantage if you can install two 512mb, which you'll see it as "dual channel", sometimes this is better as per the system configuration. Good luck. Thank you for using FixYa.

If I unstall DDR400 memory as as follows: DDR1 & DDR3 : 512MB each DDR2 & DDR4 : 256MB each making 1.5 GB in total, will dual channel technology be activated?

Definitely not. Dual channel technology requires that the 2 RAM modules installed in each bank be of the same capacity, data rate, & even better be from the same manufacturer.

RAM not found as 2x512MB

Are you finding these number when you go into your bios or from a program such as CPU-Z? If you are using good quality DDR400 memory, it should be posting with the full amount of memory available. You are using the correct slots to get dual channel, but you may want to try slots 1 & 2 or 3 & 4 to see if it will post with the full amount of memory as single channel. You may also want to have a friend try the memory in their computer to see how it posts, you may have some bad memory.

Can some one please let me know the name of the motherboard supporting Pentium 4 1.5 Ghz processor as well as Intel Core duo series of processors. Thanks, Ajay

The chips to which you refer are incompatible with respect to the socket used for each as well as the fact that Core duo and Pentium 4 1.5 GHz chips are from separate generations, the latter having been obsolescent since 2003. Therefore, there is no single motherboard that supports both, and the Pentium 4, Socket 478 boards can be obtained from various aftermarket sources.

Here is an example of the kind of board you need for your Pentium 4.
