Question about HP (158800-001) for Compaq Presario 1246, 1247, 1277, 1279 Cooling Fan
Have just removed motherboard and fixed loose dc. jack plug. rebuilt pc very diligently following repair manual. when battery is inserted power on led ok, hard drive works, cd drive works floppy disc drive works but no back light on scree and cooling fans not working. After connecting charger still same response but no charger light or battery state leds showing. is there a testing method for motherboard or circuit diagram to trouble shoot
mother board ???
I have a compaq 1247 laptop. I had problems after I took it apart. It was very difficult to get the processor chip back in properly, the little clip has to "snap" in place to hold the chip firmly in the socket. That solved my problem.

Go back and check the fine cabling that connects LED indicaters to motherborad. There's got to be a small cable you forgot to plug into the board to feed back poer state. Take your time and check everything twice.
