I believe it is a setting on the router.. There should be a timeout setting that needs to be altered. I cant tell you which setting, but this was happening to my network as well.. I used to be a Dlink fan, but have since moved to Linksys.. If buying a new router for you is an option, go for the Linksys WRT54G/GL/GS series. Sorry I cant be of much more help.

Windows XP Users (NOT Vista users, see next step for XP/Vista users)
UPDATE: There has been a recent Automatic Update (MS08-001) released on January 8 2008 that addresses some network security concerns. The below has NOT been tested with the latest TCPIP.SYS (v5.0.2195.7147) file. Update:The patch has been tested with KB941644 (an automatic update) and works perfectly!
  1. Go to this site -
  2. Click on Downloads.
  3. Right-click the link and click "Save Target As".
  4. Save it in your Desktop.
  5. Open the file and run the program located inside the archive, agreeing to the security warning.
  6. Some text should scroll by in a MS-DOS window, after it ends, type C.
  7. Enter 100 for the number of concurrent half-open connections and press Enter.
  8. Type Y and the file should be patched. Cancel any Windows XP warnings that should appear, it is part of Microsoft's way of ensuring its files are not tampered with (the utility tempers with them on purpose to change the limit).
Windows VISTA/XP Users

The modem & internet lights on router are flashing orange. All other lights are solid blue. The Verizon DSL modem indicates it is working properly. Have re-set once. What do I do now?

Its your network that's causing connection problem!

1. Try to connect to your network after half an hour!

2. If the server is still busy, don't surf during peak hours! (surf @ night)

3. Change your ISP! (last solution)

My pc cant find a conection from the modem

First of all check  if the lights are ok and connection is active.
Call your ISP and ask them if they activated your connection.
Be more specific if problem persist, what is modem model, brand, ISP...

Hope I helped you a little :)

ADSL Dropping on DSL-G604T

You can try something to narrow down where the problem is. Plug your pc directly into your modem and unplug your router altogether. This will not allow you to use you other computers on the internet. Don't worry you only have to do this for 4 or 5 hours. If the pc remains on net and you have no glitches then you might want to think about getting a new router. Since the router worked fine for 8 months, I wouldn't think the settings got changed. Routers aren't perfect pieces of equipment, I have had to purchase 3 in 4 years.

Hi ive tried to update the firmware on my dlink router and it stopped half way through and now i cant connect to it

If you are running Windows Home or Pro...I suggest doing a system restore to the day prior to the upload.
Your router should be back up and working..

Always make sure that the "update" you are doing, is for your system. There are updates out there now that include Windows Vista....downloading these instead of your version, maybe change your settings and render your peripherals useless..
