Question about Linksys Wireless-N Notebook Adapter (WPC300N)

2 Answers

LinksysWPC300N I need a driver update for this adapter. There seems to be some kind of conflict with Windows Vista. My computer recognizes it, but doesn't use it. I've tried disabling my built-in adapter but the linksys still doesn't connect. The last time I tried to install it, there was a message that said something about a conflict with Vista. Any solution?

If your having problems using your USB drive on your computer, navigate to your computer manufactures website and download the drivers for your specific PC's model number. If you built this computer from scratch, navigate to your motherboards manufacture, or installed card readers site and download the USB controller drivers from there. You cannot install this adapter in a Win 7 computer because the drivers are not compatible with Win 7.
So far Belkin haven't updated the drivers for win 7 OS. The latest drivers for this adapter is compatible only with

" Windows 98SE, Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows XP 32-bit, Windows Vista 32-bit "

Click here to see the belkin compatible drivers in the website.

Reinstalling the wireless adapter

vista have this problem...

first, switch off computer and remove physically card from the computer, then de-install all possible traces of it, run ccleaner and clean the computer as well as registry.
go to d-link site and download newest drivers for your adapter, and os (vista). unfold software to c:/dlink

switch off computer again, re-install card and re-power the computer.

when automatic software install start, select manual install, point to newly created folder c:/dlink and select appriopriate driver from there, install.

this procedure usually solves the problem, vista try to instal generic windows drivers not specific hardware drivers, to prevent occurence of that, disable automatic updates in vista, and once a month or so, do only and only security updates from windows, never, ever update your hardware drivers from windows as these are just generic drivers generating more problems than solving. hope this help.

You will want to check in your device manager to see if the network card is not being recognized and you will be able to update the driver there.

For windows XP, rght click on my computer, select properties and then select "ahrdware" and device manager.

For windows VIsta and 7, go to your control panel and open Device manager there.

Once open, you should see a network adapter with a yellow question mark or yellow exclamation mark beside it.
In either case, make sure the driver disk is in your disk drive, right click on the network adapter and select "update driver"; then just select the "recommended" options and follow through.

If this still doesn't work, try uninstalling the device from the device manager and then install the drivers using the disk.
