Question about Apple 15" PowerBook G4 Aluminum 1.67 GHz LCD Display (p/n 1002587) (661-3749 1002587) Mac Notebook
I have asked you guys about thios problem before and I did grt a responce, so thanks for that. Unfortunly this didn'y work, when you guyds said that I had to press the "c" key when starting up the laptop. ( and to add the cd or starter cd for the computer , which I don't have , as I purchased it second havd.) I was wondering if you guys could tell me a site that I can download this cd from for free isf poss so I can finally sort out my computer. I really want to wipe the whole system and start afresh if you know what I mean....
When I start the computer it goes to a little world in the middle of the screen then it changes to a question marl in the middle of a small file, the last but not least it will then switch off. all batterys are fine and charged up.
please please please help me with my problem.
YOu need the operating cd or dvd. A copy of OS X. You cannot download it, unless you go to shady websites like limewire, but i would not recommend it or any other p2p sites. It would be like setting fire to a broken arm. You need to purchase OSX TO KNOW WHAT YOURE GETTING. It sounds like you need to verify that the hard drive is faulty by booting up from a cd or dvd. This will not fix the problem if the hard drive is failing, it will only verfiy the the computer does not see it. Hold down the "C" key, instructs the computer to start from the optical drive, but the disc has to already be in the machine. Ebay or your local craigslist.org may be the cheapest place to find it.
You can also hold down the "option" key as well, this will allow you to choose the bootable volume to start up from. 10.3 and previous came on cd. 10.4 and the current 10.5 is available on dvd.
Keep me posted.
