In the CRT sets, not only Sony, there are many types of failures that can cause a loss of a colour channel.

  • damaged or warn parts on the CRT circuit board that are associated to the related colour channel(s).
  • The CRT itself may be failing.
  • Defective interface socket on the CRT circuit board, or a cold solder connection under the connector or on the the CRT board, or along the path of the related video colour channel.
  • Intermittant loss or complete loss of the bias voltage supply for the CRT that drives the colour channel in question due to any failing parts, or some cold solder connections.
  • The CRT itself is going defective and thus failinig.
  • Cold solder connection(s) on the circuit board.
To find this type of fault it would take an experienced technician using the appropiate test instruments to make the necessary tests.

Considering the cost for the time and the necessary parts (if obtainable for an old set), you may find the set too exensive to have serviced.

Why do i have a green screen after i turn the screen adjustment screw?

since every display color monitors are only work with 3 primary color which are red, blue and yellow. You could also search it that by mixing these colors, you could get any color your want. Thats how color monitors work. Now in case of green color, it creates by mixing blue and yellow. When you are turning the screen adjustment screw, the red color plug will become lose, makes it appear green.
I hope your got the reason.

Panasonic TC-P42U1 plasma. Lost it's vivid colors basic color is black and white and green and blue if tint color tone etc. Is turned up. However a blue ray video plays with full color. Could it be a lose...

I have an old Toshiba TV and was going to replace it with a new plasma because it has suddenly (the week of July 19, 2010) lost color. It has only green and blue tint. Changing the "tint" on the menu didn't help. The color comes and goes relative to nothing that I can measure, such as how long it is turned on, etc. Reading other complaints from owners of Plasmas, I am thinking it is cable related. I have Charter Cable. Playing a DVD, I have to readjust the tint back to normal. Hope this info gives clues.

62" RCA dlp loses color

If you hear any winding, whirling or screeching noise (Color Wheel symptoms)
If there is any vibrations in the TV (Color Wheel symptoms) you would need to change the color wheel.

I have a toshiba 65hm167 no red color on the screen

Your TV is a DLP one lamp does it all, not like the old projection TVs with the Red, Green & Blue CRTs. Your TV may have a bad light engine or lose cable connections.

Good luck

Picture loses all normal color & changes to snowy blues & greens

Not sure what causes it but it can be fixxed by your local repair guy, I just had mine fixxed for under a hundred bucks, he takes the back off and with a tiny screw driver adjust a few screws to near brand new perfect picture.. and it has been good ever since

Problem with color

Yes you have a problem in the red crt driver board. Most likely the driver transistor is failing. This is a component level repair, so if you have no experience with TV repair, play it safe and call in a trained tech to assist you in this matter. Good Luck
