LCD light has gone out

I've had the MC7101 for less 3 months and the blue LCD light has gone out. Any reason why and how can it be corrected/fixed?

Re: LCD light has gone out

You will need to send it back to the manufacturer for repair for this. No doubt the LCD backlight has either burnt out of has a bad soldier connection inside. This can also happen if the unit has been dropped.

Good Luck,

MC7101 wont turn off no matter how much I hit the off button

Even though the button moves, it may not be making contact internally. It may be necessary to disassemble the radio sufficiently to gain access to the button area for repair.

Display light out on boston acoustic duo-I plus

In my case the blue LEDs were dead. It is pretty difficult to replace them by new SMD-LEDs but I managed it. Open the front, take out the board from the front part (5 screws). On one side of the LCD-screen you can see a white stripe with 3 resistors 101 (100 ohms). You must free this stripe form the plastic body on the left and right side (eg. by soldering iron). Solder out this stripe, on the other side you will find 3 very small smd-leds. Break them out and solder 3 new leds onto the board (left side = K). For control you can put 3 Volts to the Anode (A=+) and the Kathode (K=-) of this stripeboard before fixing it on the frontboard by soldering.

How do I set the stations on the Memorex MC7101. The preset function doesn't work properly. Is there a way to manually set the stations? Also, the antennae doesn't seem to help much. Thanks!

Download manual from, instructions on page 8 of manual. It's a nice radio.

The AM radio doesn't work on this radio? What's that about?

Often times these small radios need antenna help. I know that some radios use the power cord for the fm antenna. If your radio has a spot for an external AM antenna on it, they are cheap and can be made with lite skills.

Memorex mc 7101 power cord

You need to purchase a multi connector power supply that is capable of 6 volt dc out put. The jack is "center positive". Most any of these aftermarket power supplies will have the correct jack with them.

Good Luck,
