Bought Acer 5570z and Samsung 2232z (BestBuy) and cannot get full screen display. Black cutoff top and bottom. Full screen only in projector mode. 30 minutes in projector mode results in blue screen of death. Acer tech-help useless.

Re: 5570z and 2232bw
First, I would check screen cable. try replacing it with a new one, you will be surprised to know how many display problems are are caused by a defected screen cable. in case this is not the problem, it can get more complicated, but first, just in case, reinstall drivers. its a long shot, but if you get lucky it will save you alot of pain. in case it didn't help, It's probably a bad vertical output chip. if you have some familiarity with monitors and decent soldering skills you could probably fix it yourself, but I would advise looking into taking it to a shop, or at least find an experienced hobbiest if you're not yourself. It's a pretty straightforward fix for someone who knows what they're doing.

1. Check in Screen settings to make sure the video output is going to the laptop screen, not the secondary out put.
2. make sure that you choose Extend displays.
3. There is probably a FN key at the top that will toggle between primary and secondary displays.
No, Remove the Screws On the Front Bezel Of the Screen.. (there should be 4 One on each corner), Then you will need a thin plastic tool such as a guitar pick or thin credit card... Pry the front plastic bezel from the back cover starting at the top right corner.. THe Whole Front Bezel Is Held On By Snap Down Plastic Tabs... You Will Need To Slide The Plastic Tool Along The Entire Top Of The Screen At an Angle... Then Once the top is insnapped, Do the sides, Then The Bottom.. Front Bezel Is Now Off And You Should Have Full Access To The Display...
You will have to Unscrew the screen from the Hinges On THe Left And Right Sides... Usually 2 or 4 screws on each side then screen is removable
Go to Control Panel choose Display Properties go to Desktop tab there is a selection from Position: center, stretch, tile choose the stretch then apply and ok, your picture will displayed in full screen in your desktop
I replaced my screen on my 5570z, i purchased it off of ebay for 130.00 shipped, but make sure you check out there feedback, and make sure they have a ZERO dead pixel return policy. Some are sneaky and will not let you return it if you have less than 3 dead pixels.
Most screens can be bought online and not necessarily from Acer. You need to get the actual part number and it might surprise you that the screen was manufactured by a different company (mostly Taiwan). You can try here or ebay.
Screens would have series numbers like 5570-4765.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
