Repeating cycles When the timer on my washer reaches about 39 min, it will get down to 36 min and then go back to 39 min. It does this anywhere between 3 - 6 times. Is this normal?

    GE GCVH6260HWW Front Load Washer

I am experiencing the same problem with my new washer (delivered Dec. 2007). It starts spinning and stops after reaching medium speed. Timer goes back up... it does this from 3 to 5 times, regardless of cycle used and amount of clothes in washer. The noise also increases when draining. One technician told me the control panel might need to be changed, another said this was normal when off balance... to be continued.

Hi there, I am having the exact same problem, I have a technician coming on Wednesday to take a look at it. This morning I did a load of laundry and it took over 2 hours to finish, talk about ridiculous!!

I will keep you posted on what happens

I also have the same problem. It seems to happen when I am doing a colors/normal load. Once it hits 39 mins it will keep readjusting time time. A wash can take almost 2 hours to complete. If I do the same type of load (towel, jeans) and put the setting on speed wash it will finish in the correct time. Any ideas?

I have the same problem. I find this happens on the Colors/Normal cycle most often. Once the cycle hits 39 mins the timer will readjust many times. This causes the wash to be completed in 2 hours! I found if I put the same type of load (jeans, towels) on the Speed Wash setting the timing is more percise. Any thoughts?

Has anyone have any new information regarding this problem??

I had a technician come to see my washer today and I was told this is normal, these machines have many sensors and if they are not balanced to spin they stop and redistribute the load to it can spin balanced. It is also normal for a load to take up to 2 hours to complete if the load if big with larger items such as towels, jeans etc.

Kenmore series 80 washer won't drain after wash cycle

Try the 'drain' portion of a few of the other cycles (heavy, perm. press, delicates) and see if it will drain/spin there. You can also try advancing the timer slowly through the 'spin' portion to see if it kicks in anywhere.

If it will rinse and spin in the other cycles, you most likely have a bad timer.

    Hope this helps.

Roper dryer res7648kq0, replaced heat element, thermal fuse, cycling thrm, thermal kit, checked outlet, circuit breaker, still not heat, will not advance on AUTO, but will on timed cycle. Now what?

In electric dryers with an AUTO cycle; the heater runs on 220 volts, but the timer motor runs on 110 volts. There is a resistor in the system to cut down the voltage. If the resistor is bad, you will see the same symptoms as if a thermostat was bad. The timer motor will not run in the automatic cycle. You need to make sure that you test for continuity in the resistor.
I've looked at two parts diagrams for your washer and cannot find a sensor anywhere in either, so the thermostat is what tells the timer to advance once the dryer reaches a preset temperature.
The thermostat will only tell the timer to advance if the dryer reaches the proper temperature, if you have some clogging in the vents, the dryer may never reach the proper temperature, and thus not advance on the auto cycle. but i'm sure you've probably checked that. I'm baffled. Let me know how it pans out if you can. Thanks. I'm still trying to find a wiring diagram for that model.

d sounds as if your having a timer issue here. not recognizing the end of cycle and entering a new one ( bad timer).. as far as time of unlocking this is normal, theres a wax motor holding the door shut for i believe 3 min's.. and the water sloshing sounds is also normal they use a "water filled" balance ring around the perimeter of tub to help with the overall balance of machine
