SD and Micro SD memory cards has a smallslide switch on the edge of the card, which write protects data on the memorycard. Slide the switch from the READ position tothe WRITE position, which is furthest away from the contacts.
Hi Thanks for your question. SOLUTION 1 - Unlock the memory card.
There is a Lock switch on the left side of the SD card. Make sure the Lock switch is slid up (unlock position). You will not be able to modify or delete the contents on the memory card if it is locked.
SOLUTION 2 - Toggle the lock switch.
If the lock switch is not on lock: 1. Slide the switch up and down. Repeat this 3 times. 2. Let it stay on the Lock position for 30 seconds. 3. Slide the switch up to unlock the card. 4. Try to transfer files into the device.
For non-SD cards: Format the card
The data on the memory card may be corrupted.
WARNING: Formatting will delete all the files in the device. Backup all your data before formatting. Thank You for using FixYa.
If you need help with a Canon Powershot that is suddenly acting up, try this site: www.camerasandparts.com All they deal with is service and parts for the Canon Powershot cameras. Go to that site and you should find the email address. They are amazing if you need a hand with one of these. They also have most of the repairs as a flat-rate on their site for the Canon Powershot models. Hope that helps get you in the right direction anyway.
I have a spare camera I picked up for parts...they are often available on ebay. email me and perhaps we can work out something. I haven't taken the camera apart yet but plan to use the LCD on another one that is broken. Let me know rxflyfisher@gmail.
My toddler daughter recently dropped our Canon S40, and broke the casing on the camera. It still works, but doesn't retract the lens when using the slide cover. I need to replace the casing.
If you still have the unit, would you be interested in selling it to me for spares? Is the casing still in good order?
If so, I will bear all costs of postage too
Hope to hear from you soon
