Problem for LG GSA-H42N 18x DVD RW DL IDE Drive (Black) Burner

Dvd writer is not reading any cd

Recently i try to reinstall windows xp, it was working fine initially. But the installation was stopped after 5 minutes and it was asking for a file in the cd. After that i could not do anything. So I reinstall the os with the help of another cd drive.

Now my DVD drive is not reading anything, just blinking green indicator and then it stopped. loading unloading mechanism is working fine.

please some give a solution for me.

try re pluging in the ribbon cable make sure it is in right. then put a know dvd intothe drive and see if it reads it if it don't then the drive is bad the 16 speed has a stand alone driver so you could try reinstalling the drive also check that the DVD player is not disabled in bios.
