Hi for the last few days it has taken about 3 hours to aquire satelites. I have no idea why? when i do finally get satelite i then lose it, I am still in the same area and have never had this problem...

If it has been working and now it is not try pressing the reset button
  • Turn the Garmin Nuvi 1300 off.
  • Press your finger against the bottom-right corner of the Garmin display screen. Leave your finger in place as you power the unit on.
  • Release your finger when the display screen asks, "Do you want to erase all user data?" Use your finger to tap "Yes." The unit will begin to reboot. Do not use the unit until the main menu is displayed. The reset process should take about 45 seconds.
Once you get it going; go to the Garmin website and register and update the unit. I have attached a link to the Garmin site for you.
Thanks for using FixYa

My navi keeps saying poor satilite reception how do i fix

Make sure it has a good charge 1st.

hook it up to the usb cable to your computer for a few hours, then try again. take it outside in clear view of the open sky and give it up to 30 minutes to aquire the satellites.

if that fails and the battery still has a good charge in it, while still in clear view of the open sky, press and hold the lower right corner of the screen, while pressing on the lower right corner, slide the switch to the on position for a few seconds, then follow the on screen directions.

Unable to Track Satellites

My garmin will idle after turning it on "aquiring satelites", after awhile it will give me the white screen "trouble tracking satelites, are you indoors now?" answer "no"when the garmin asks you if you are in a particular state answer "no". It works for me everytime, don't know why, just that it works to lie sometimes.

My eTREX VISTA won't get a satelite fix any more

The unit needs to have the screen facing up. The unit will not read if it is vertical. Garmin cust serv finally helped me with that one. Once you turn on the unit, it could take up to 20 minutes (usually about 3) to grab satelites.

Garmin fortrex 101 won't aquire any satelites

Does it pick up any at all? you need 3 to get a fixed posistion. If you see one or two picking up then it may be your location. Also try doing a firmware update, I have seen that fix this problem on other units.

Garmin GPS problem

I have a 276C that has the same problem. Garmin has a unit with this problem and is working on a solution. The problem is that the real time clock loses time when the unit is turned off and disconnected from a power source. As a result when you turn on the unit it thinks the satelites are in a different orbit than where they actually are. The unit will continue trying to aquire forever and not find the satelites. You have to select "New Location" from the menu and select "Autolocate" and the unit will start to look for any satelites in view. The unit should get a fix within 15 minutes. This is a very frustrating problem having to reset it every day. There is a new version of firmware (5.3). I don't know if the problem has been fixed with this release.
