Question about Dell Inspiron 6000 Notebook
My 3 year old Inspiron 6000 just went dark on me while I was away from it and it was hibernating. The screen won't come back on and I can just barely see a ghost of a welcome window when I rebooted. Any suggestions?
When the following symptoms, you need to replace the Dell LCD screen
No image on the screen, but the power indicator stays in
Dark display but still readable
1/2 to several seconds between the screen flashes on and off
Power light stays on, but no display and sound
No image on the screen, but LCD TV still has sound
Image cycle on and off, as well as high power LED light

Same thing happened to me. I removed the battery (which was bad anyway) and the screen worked. Go figure.

Sounds like your LCD went out, I would have suggested the brightness thing as well as my laptop will go to a lower setting when the power is unplugged to save battery life.
The only other thing you could do is make sure the connection is good on the video connection to the motherboard. If you can't use this system with a docking station and a monitor you could always check ebay for a replacement LCD.

Same thing! I went to control panel, then display, then settings, and clicked on troubleshoot. Immediately the brightness came back and all is well. Shut down and rebooted and all is still well.
