Whenever i open it its sony cyber shot it says for use with compatible battery and turn off and by the way the battery was a new one and i didnt use it alot

Possible that the voltage on the cell is not as specified on the model and so the battery voltage detector thinks that the battery is not the recommended type due to the low voltage/current ratio.
I would suggest that you try with a new set than to suspect the camera.
Make sure the terminals are clean.

Try clean contacts of camera for battery and contacts of the battery also, specially the middle one - it is for communication between camera and circuit inside the battery. If the problem persists, try use another battery in your camera, or your battery in other compatible product - you determine this way if the problem is inside the battery (I hope, it is cheaper) or inside the camera.

The Sony battery that came with the camera no longer works

I had the same problem and tried cleaning the contact points with alcohol on cotton swabs and it didn't work so I tried using a clean pencil eraser and after cleaning both the battery contact points and the 3 contact points within the camera using a twisting motion, it works!

Screen will say: for use with compatible battery only

How old is the battery? Rechargeable batteries are only meant to last a couple years at most. If the battery is older than that, consider replacement. Amazon usually is a good source for good generic replacements at reasonable cost.

USB Mode/Battery compatible problem

I think maybe one of the battery connections are damaged if so try to straighten them with a very thin long nose pliers .The other possbility could be that you have a faulty circuit board .Service it at sony or hopefully youve bought an original battery

Battery problem (DSC W70)

The battery has a third terminal which feeds back data to the cameras microprocessor, if the camera gets dropped the battery block can get damaged and this signal does not get to the CPU. The camera thinks that you're attempting to use a generic battery and displays a warning, then shuts off. Check to see if the 3.0 volt DC voltage is present on the center pin of the battery connector, if it's there, you can safely assume the data is there as well. I wish you luck! Joe Weibel
