No signal to my laptop

My laptop doesn't recieve a wireless signal, but when connected with a hard line I am able to connect to the internet. Firmware is updated on the router, and I was able to connect to the internet prior to our move 4 weeks ago. I can connect to the internet on my other laptop, the only thing I see is different is the pass word to the router.

Connecting to wireless signal is not the same as connecting to the internet. Verify the wireless router itself is connected. Your internet provider may be off line.

When you get that symbol in Windows 7 it usually means that there is no internet connection. You can be connected to the wireless router but still not get on line if the wireless router has lost the internet connection. Probably your best bet will be to update the firmware on the NBG-419n. The only firmware sometimes had issues staying connected to the Internet through some modems. First you will need to download the firmare. Here is a direct link. Firmware Then you need to log into the router. It will be best if you are on a computer that is connected by Ethernet to one of the LAN ports on the router. Open up Internet Explorer and type '' into the address bar. You should get the login page for the NBG-419n. Default password is 1234. Once logged in click on Expert Mode at the top right corner of the page. Then click on the maintenance icon on the left side of the screen, then click the Maintenance heading to drop down the list, then click on Firmware Upload. Once in there click Browse and select that BIN file. Then click Upload. The firmware upgrade should take a couple of minutes. Once it is done you may want to power cycle your modem for a couple of minutes and then see if you can get on line. This should help with any connectivity issues.

I have lost connection to the internet on my computer. My ICON at the bottom right corner says I have good signal strength connection, but I can not connect. I have connected via hard wire land line but...

If your trying to get on the internet with a wireless connection.and running WINDOWS, .and I am assuming you DO have a wireless router all set up and configured to broadcast the signal (not hidden) ....first we have to determine if the problem is at the router or at the laptop AND at what point its getting stuck ... so first try this

try resetting the router (unplug for a few minutes) try --be sure the wifi switch is enabled on the netbook---try---go to CONTROL PANEL>NETWORK CONNECTIONS--right click oin your wifi card and choose properties--highlight INTERNET PROTOCOL and choose properties and be sure "OPTAIN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY" is checked--Does the laptop "SEE" the router?
You will need your SSID to logon to the router(internet)

this is a link to a troubleshooting flow-chart

If this was helpful, please indicate so, if not -comment back so we can dig further to resolve this.

Can't find the internet when hooked up to the wireless network

Ensure that your wireless is enabled, Ensure that the router is connected correctly to the modem, and ensure that the modem is recieving signal. Set up your wireless router by LAN lining your computer to it, and then (General wireless device IP address) put in into your internet browser bar. It should direct you to the Wireless device configuration for your router. From there, ensure everything is working properly.

Laptop driver needed

You dont need a driver for the wireless router. If your laptop can recieve wireless signal(from a wireless router) all you need is an active internet connection, configure the laptop and router to distribute the internet, you're good to go.

If your laptop cant recieve a wireless signal from a wireless router then you might need a USB Wifi Dongle.

Can't get internet connection to my lap i have a desk top.

Is your laptop wireless adapter correctly configured? It may be set to only recieve certain types of signals (802.11b, when you may beed 802.11g etc), so check if the configuration of the laptop matches the configuration of the router.

To test if the laptop can get internet at all, try to get to a wired internet line (your wireless router may have some Ethernet ports on the back; laptops usually have Ethernet connectivity), just incase your laptop is set to block all internet signals coming in.

Hope this helps!

Lap top problem

Wireless network adapters require an associated wireless receiver (such as a wireless router or wireless access point) to recieve the radio signals from the adapter and eventually route them to a wire and in you case it would be the wire providing internet services to your desktop computer. If there is no wireless receiver there is no device to convert the radio communications of the wireless adapter and rout those signals to the internet.

I hope this helps.
