sounds like you may have a rusted evaporator coil and that has caused a freon leak. it is very common on newer units as they are not made as well as they used to be. when the coil rusts, it will cause the freon copper lines to leak the freon out and then without enough freon it will usually freeze over a few coils and eventually not take any water out of the air. i would check to see if yours has an extended warranty and then contact the manufacturer to see if they can fix or replace the unit.
