Re: HP Deskjet 3820 Printer

If you love it (3820) better learn how to clean the service station or it will shear the gears and be done.
See my post under the blinking light problem with 3820s.
I really like the printer and wish someone had told me this before mine broke. No answer for your question, but should have manuals as a pdf download.

Lite stays on but does not print even tho message shows a succcessful print was made.

I took the printer to office depot where they looked at it and said it was an obsolete model that would ccost more to fix tthaan the original printer. They offered me a new hp6500 at a sale price of $99.00 and a tradee in of $50.00 on my 3820 which I promptly grabbed up.

Small print and it prints a whole sheet size like a business card

Try going into the printer settings in Control Panel - printers and faxes and right click on your HP printer. A drop down menu will display and at the bottom of this menu there is a section "properties" click on this and property scrren will display. Click on "printing preferences" and a preference screen will display.
click on "page setup" and set paper size to A4 or whatever size you are using.

Hp deskjet 3820 - have refilled the cartridge and pc wont print

Clean the contacts on the carriage with piece of cotton and then clean the contacts on the cartridge with rubber and try again. If this not help replace the cartridge.

HP Deskjet 3820 Won't print blue

The problem is most likely an "old" cartridge, even if it was new in the box. Printed on the box is an "install by" date which is 18 months from the manufacture date. If you do not have the box you can check the warranty date on the cartridge as shown here. The warranty date is two years from the date of manuacture, six months beyond the "install by" date.

A fresh cartridge will almost certainly solve your problem. When buying new cartridges I would look for at least six months remaining before the "install by" date.

When storing cartridges for long periods keep them in a cool place and leave them standing upright as they would be hanging on a store display shelf for maximum life.

HP Deskjet 3820 states system error

try disconnecting from computer, and run the test page from the panel..then, reconnect to computer and see if it repeats..sounds like the operating system may have lost the printer drivers..
