Question about Toshiba Satellite M45-S265 Notebook
Could we possibly get some quick specs on the computer? Also, when did this start happening?
Sometimes, doing windows updates can cause things to occur in a computer if they are not installed fully, or correctly.
I would highly suggest doing a windows update to see if that will help with the issue.
You may also want to consider the issue being associated with spyware. When the "flashlight" situation occurs, it's trying to link the Icon with the actual location. And if its My Computer it's looking for, that's not a good thing.
You can attempt to do a scan on your computer to rid yourself of any potential threats. There are many options out there.
You could do a virus scan through trendmicro -> http://housecall65.trendmicro.com/
You could download ad-aware and run a scan -> http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2007-Free/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5
Also, try this.
Click on start, and then run. Type in msconfig, and then click on OK.
Go to the far right tab labeled startup. click on disable all. Then go through and make sure, if you have an anti-virus in the list, that it's enabled.
Restart the PC, and have a go at it.
If none of this works, then double check and make sure your PC isn't overheating whatsoever. Sometimes, heating issues can cause a PC to hang like this. But usually, it's the entire system, and not specific like this issue.
If all else fails, attempt to re-install your operating system.
Hope this helps.
