Question about Samsung HLN617W 61" Rear Projection HDTV
I have a samsung 59" dlp tv, everything has been fine until yesterday when I went to turn on the tv. Now i have a green plaid sceen on every input. Any idea were I can shart troubleshooting?
I had a 50" DLP sampson with the green screen problem plus it has a power off problem; meaning the TV shuts off for about 10 seconds then turns back on when watching Hd TV it got to be a problem when if happend about ever half hour. The analog TV stations are the only green screen. You had to unplug TV to get rid of green for short time.
If you feel the back cover of theTV, the cover is hot to the touch, so hot in places to make you **** your hand back from the heat.
I removed the lower back section ( had to unplug all cables from back cover,Don''t forget the power cable) I used my shop vac placed the hose on blow outlet and blew out all the dust inside the set. (DON"T put hose to close to TV's componits!) Next I removed TV's LOWER back cover, found vent in back for the TV"s fan (over the heat sink), marked the back vent then I went to local Electronics store.
I purchased one 115 volt fan , one cord that pluged into fan and other end into eletricial outlet. Locating center of TV fan on TV's back cover
find best location to mount fan. ( I check fan before mounting by plugging it in to wall outlet to find out air flow direction) I wanted the air flow pulling air out of TV. I mounted my fan on outside of TV's cover left and up from THE TV"s FAN CENTER.
Remount TV's cover with fan. Plug in all your cables, plug in power and fan. turn on TV. After I done above proseager After 8 hours of tv bring on no green screens, no power shut down. The back pannel of TV is cold to the touch except the vent for the projecter lamp.
The Fan I used is a Orion coolong Fan (Knight Eletronics) Part number OA92AP-11-1TB total cost: Fan and cord, nuts, washers and & bolts Under $25.00. Not bad even if TV just last another few months

Apparently this is caused by a surge in yr electricty supply- burns 4 or so IC's and a part called SPF- Samsung dealers can do the repairs for you but since ist power related, its not under warranty.hope this helps

If you are using a hdmi cable to a cable providers cable box, it is a firmware issues with the tvs hdmi port. Check with samsung for firmware upgrade for tv.

After posting the issue I was reading all the other issues and someone mention resetting the tv by holding the power button and unplugging. It worked to were i can use the tv but the issue of the green screen still comes back about once a week and have to reset. So no, I have not found out what the issue is but found a short term fix. Also found that when the green screen appears that the HD channels are not affected? Haven't done any research yet to narrow down the issue yet.

I saw you left a message on my post with the same problem. I haven't had any luck despite posting it on 3 different message boards. I guess I'll have to all a repair service. The only problem is that I live in a fairly small town and the closest authorized repair dealer is over an hour away. Have you had any luck with helping your problem?
