The solder point is on the ribbon that goes into the motherboard - just get a solder iron with a fine tip and a solder sucker - dab it on the blod and remove that sucker.

easy

Overhead car kenwood dvd player is constantly show disc error.. What is causing this error?

Possible error is the data is not read by the optical head.
So clen the lens eye to check if the faultt changes. If not the optical head assembly must be changed.
Use proper method to change the new Head, remove the static short of solder to prevent static damage to the head if touched or solderred by leaky soldering irons.
Use an anti static iron to do the job.

Psp making funny buzz noise and not reading umd disks.

Try a different UMD, it might be scratched. If not, take a soft cloth, and clean the lens. Look on google to see where the lens are located.

PSP Problem

I dont know how technical savvy you are but there are several DIY guides on the internet to replace the UMD drive which often fails on the PSP.

Check out this website for a complete tutorial.

http://www.llamma.com/PSP/repair/PSP_UMD_Not_Reading_Discs.htm

you can find hte UMD parts on ebay usually as well

http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=psp+umd+drive&category0=

If not type in google psp repair.. there are plenty of place that do repairs.

PSP Anti-static solder point removal

it is helpful if you get some desoldering braid from your local diy shop. you just heat the braid on the solder joint and .... zip... the solder runs up the braid.

hope this helps

Hi Jelliot69,

Same as other posting.
Clean the lasers lens with Glass Cleaner and a cotton swab. Do not use Alcohol, it will damage the lens. Also, I know they have UMD disc cleaner on Ebay. Another thing is to open the Internet explorer and click on the toolbox and delete cookies and offline files. This also may free up memory.

Hi Jleew,

You should check to see if another UMD will work first.  Also try them in another PSP.  If your sure your PSP is not reading Discs, then and only then, Clean the Laser lens carefully.  Using a strong flashlight and magnifying glass, look into the UMD drive with the UMD door open and look for debris like hair or lint, and also dirt and dust.  A black switch pokes up on the left inside the UMD drive.  Its a little black stick.  When you press down on this Black stick, your UMD disc motor should spin for  second or two.  The UMD laser lens should light up when your press this switch.  If any of this does not happen, you need to replace the UMD drive. If you need someone to do this which if you have never done it, you need some knowledge big time.

I can do this for you if you're in the USA for $55 including a New UMD drive, REturn Shipping, and 90 day warranty. Contact Repairtech@playstationclinic.com

Disks wont spin on new laser

Did you remove the anti static solder blob (point) on your new laser with a soldering iron and solder wick prior to installing it? The symptons your explaining indicate that point is still intact, If so you will need to carefully remove it first then reinstall the laser and try again.

My UMD icon dont appear when i put a game on it

I think the lens might have died permanantely, or maybe just it's temporary. I've also had the same problem, and one time I turned it on, it started working again. Wait about a day and see if it still happens.
