Question about Nintendo DS Lite Console

Top screen, it may be in wiring

My top screen (I geuss it's LCD) is all screwed up, the screen stays fully white but sometimes little parts show up, however, when I hold the screen a little past its first locking point the screen comes back.
Help me please!

The ribbon cable which connects the top screen to the base of your ds is probably cracked or has a split in it. With an original ds you can just replace the cable but on a ds lite you have to replace the whole of the top screen if the cable is broken. If you are feeling adventurous and don't mind voiding your warranty then you can buy a screwdriver from http://www.whitedog.co.uk/catalog/nintendo-wing-screwdriver/p-1169.html and then you can buy a top screen from http://www.consoleparts4u.co.uk/nintendo-ds-lite-top-lcd-64-p.asp. All I can suggest is that you're carefull. Hope this helps.

CCFL = Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp. (Bulb)
Similar to Fluorescent lighting used in homes, and businesses; but on a MUCH smaller scale.

Average thickness is 2mm. That is a little thicker than 1/16th of an Inch.
Or about the width of this capital -> O <-

Average length is almost as long, as the LCD screen is in height.

Just like it's larger 'cousins', it has Mercury in it. A POISON.

Point?
They break VERY easily, and have Mercury inside.

I usually suggest changing the LCD screen itself, to replace a Backlight.

More expensive?
YES
If you are talking about price of LCD screen compared to a CCFL bulb.

SAFER?
YES
There is NO price for a human life.

The plastic frame in front of the LCD screen is the Display Bezel.

I may be wrong, but I believe the Display Bezel can be removed, WITHOUT having to remove the entire Display Assembly from the laptop.

Makes life a lot easier.

There is a Philips head screw in the Bottom/Left corner, and a Philips head screw in the Bottom/Right corner, to remove from the Display Bezel.

They are under Screw Covers. The Screw Covers are made of synthetic rubber, or plastic. They are held in place by a type of rubber cement.
I take a computer pick, and gently pry up at the base of the Screw Cover.

If you are careful you should be able to reuse the Screw Covers.
If they do not stick anymore, apply a TINY dab of rubber cement to them, with a toothpick.

The Display Bezel has TABS going around the exterior perimeter of it's inside edges.
These snap into matching LATCHES on the Display Cover.

There also may be some sticky tape, at the bottom/inside edge of the Display Bezel. Means CAREFULLY pry the bottom edge of the Display Bezel when removing.

The best method, of removal of the Display Bezel that I have found, is to flex it.
It is made of space-age plastic, and is pretty tough stuff.
(Of course there are those, who could destroy a steel ball bearing with a rubber mallet, in a sandbox)

I cut a piece of thick construction paper, to just fit the inside edges of the Display Bezel.
Display Assembly laid as far back as possible, the thick piece of construction paper will stay in place.
It is used to prevent scratching of the LCD screen, from your fingernails.

Come to the Inside edge (LCD screen side), of the right/middle side of the Display Bezel. Sliding a fingertip of one hand under the bezel to lift up slightly.
Can't get in? Move over a little. You are at a Tab/Latch.

With one fingertip under the bezel, slide another fingertip under from your other hand. By now a Tab/Latch should have released.

SNAP!

Sounds like you're breaking something.

Keeping the bezel slightly up, move along with the fingertips of one hand, and move towards the Top.
Go along the Top popping Tabs/Latches loose.
Then come down the Left side.

As you reach the bottom ease up on one side a little, and wait for the tape to start releasing. Then ease along the bottom until all the tape releases, and the Display Bezel pops off.

Once the Display Bezel is removed, then disconnect the small cable that comes from the Video Cable (Display Cable - HP), TO the screen Inverter board. (Left side of screen Inverter)

(screen Inverter is mounted behind the Display Bezel, and at the bottom of the Screen Frame.
The Screen Frame is the thin metal frame which surrounds the LCD screen assembly)

[The LCD screen is an assembly of layers. The layers are held in the factory set position by the Screen Frame]

Disconnect the small cable that goes TO the screen Inverter, on the Right side of the screen Inverter.
Remove the screen Inverter, and lay aside.

Remove the Philips head screw at EACH top corner. Holds the Screen Frame TO the Display Cover.

Tilt the top of the LCD screen towards you, remove the clear adhesive tape over the Video Cable connector on the back of the LCD screen.

(DO NOT remove the tape all the way. Just carefully peel it back far enough, so that you can get to the Video cable connector, at the back of the LCD screen. This way you should be able to reuse the tape)

Disconnect the Video Cable (Display Cable) from the back of the LCD screen.

Remove JUST the screws which hold the Hinge Brackets TO the Screen Frame.

The Screen Frame can be taken apart. Of course you will need to do this, BUT ONLY after removing the LCD screen assembly.

THREE screws on each side for the Hinge Brackets.
(Display Panel Brackets)
One towards the Top, two down towards the Bottom.

Pages 64 through 80 in Service Manual.

Page 68/ Bottom; shows disconnecting the screen Inverter.

I have a packard bell easynote rs65 and my screen (13.3 inch)broke. i'm confident i can replace it myself but i can't take the front off fully enough to take out the screen, which i need to do to...


Hi,
Usually to replace a LCD screen on a laptop there are screws holding the front plastic cover in place.
On top of the screws there could be little rubber covers approx 3mm to 8mm in diameter.
Located on the top and bottom corners of the screen which you can peel off with a fine blade or screwdriver.
Sometimes they also have a screw behind the model label, bottom center of screen.
Once all the screws are off, the cover just clips off.

Hello,
Sounds like you have a defrost problem since the freezer side is working okay . It probably is not blowing cold air into the refrigerator side , so to check the defrost circuit , unplug the refrigerator and inside the refrigerator section at the top about 2" in from each side in the back , there are "D" slots to put a finger in , and pull downward and forward , to remove the control panel cover . Once removed , there is a 1/4" screw on each side holding the adjustment indicator panel on , 1 Phillips screw behind both light bulbs , and 1 screw holding the complete panel to the rear wall . After removing these 5 screws , at the top right corner , with about 6-8 wires going to it , is the adaptive defrost board . Sometimes you can see the electronic board and on newer refrigerator's , a white box will be seen. Inside this box , is the adaptive defrost control . Disconnect the plug going to the board and on the right side of the PLUG , the far right wire is yellow , then another color , then white . Using a small insulated wire with both ends stripped , insert one end into the yellow wire hole and the other into the white wire hole . This will bypass the adaptive board and send power directly through the defrost bimetal ( thermostat ) AND heater to check if they are good .Plug the refrigerator back in . Now , wait about 3-5 min and look for a red glow at the bottom of the inside freezer panel , which will be the defrost heater or listen for sizzling which will be the frost melting and dripping onto the heater .If NO red glow , watch for a spark while removing the jumper wire you installed , from the plug . If a spark IS seen , then the heater was on and the heater AND bimetal are good . If you see the red glow , hear the sizzling , or see the spark , then the adaptive defrost board should be replaced . If no glow , sizzling or spark , then unplug the refrigerator and reinstall the refrigerator control section .
Remove the food in the freezer section enough so that the 2 screws holding the lower freezer panel on and the freezer panel , can be removed . Remove the panel . If the heater (black element at the bottom of the coils ) wires are visible , trace then to the top of the coils and disconnect . Use an ohm meter to determine if the element is good . If the element IS good , at the top of the coils , is a 1" cylinder with 2 wires , clipped onto the coils . This is the defrost thermostat ( bimetal ) . Replace this part if the element shows good . If the element shows bad , replace the element . NOTE 1 : sometimes the element and the bimetal come wired together and the replacement part comes with a new heater and bimetal already wired together . This would be the adviseable replacement part . However , each part can still be replaced individually . NOTE 2 : If looking at the bimetal and the top plastic " cap " looks cockeyed , replace the bimetal as moisture has gotten inside and disturbed its designed function .

Power light falshes on and off and tv will not power on. any advice on how to fix this


Unplug the tv for 5 minutes, then try this. Keep holding the VOL+ and CH- buttons down while you plug the tv cord back into the wall ac outlet till you get sound and picture for a second or two. You should be able to turn the tv on and off with the power button now. Next turn the power button off and unplug the tv for a few seconds and then plug it back in and turn the power button back on. Watch the screen and see if the sound and picture comes on, best to check in a dark room to see better, if sound stays on and picture comes on a few seconds and back off you have a bad CCFL backlight lamp in the LCD panel. This tv hads (10) CCFL lamps part # RLMPLA029WJN1 cost $15.93 at www.partstore.com or $19.49 at www.encompassparts.com in it and if one is burned out it will not let the tv picture be powered on till it is replaced. To check and replace the CCFL lamp you will have to unplug the ac cord from the tv back and remove 10 screws holding the back on. With back removed unplug the wire plug on the power button circuit at top left side of the black LCD screen trim, remove 4 screws holding the top of black trim, lay speakers off it, and release trim clips, (4) at top and (2) at bottom with a flat screw driver, and lower the trim to unclip the LED circuit board at bottom left side on the trim. With trim removed, at top of LCD panel remove the PC ribbon wire clip with thumb nail by lifting up on it to release the flat PC ribbon wire. Lay the tv back on a soft pillow with screen up, and look on the LCD panel front for and remove the (10) silver screws 1/2" long with an arrow mark beside them. Do not remove any gold colored screws or any without marks. The LCD panel screen can now be lifted off, lift the backlight plastic thin sheeting and thick sheet off to see the CCFL lamps. Plug the ac cord back into the power supply inverter circuit board and plug the power button plug wire back in its circuit board on the LCD black trim panel, and power the tv on while looking at the CCFL lamps. If the lamp is dim or burned out, take the (2) white plastic covers off the ends of the lamps with a flat screw driver and unclip the lamp to replace it, Check the lamp socket part # QSOCFA003WJZZ by putting a good lamp in it and if it lights up the sockets are good and the bad lamp was the problem. If all the CCFL lamps do not light up, unclip the top lamps and move them to differant sockets to the center and the center lamps to the top, if the lamps do not light up, then it is a bad power supply inverter circuit board the ac cord plugs into, part # RUNTKA448WJQZ , cost about $160.00 for new one or less if you buy a used one on www.ebay.com , replace it and the tv should work ok then.

The tv came on then the screen went black but there was still sound for a sec. Now the green light keeps blinking and the tv won't turn

Freezer stays cold ,but refrigerator is not staying cold.compressor and fan work,but are hot

Replacement of Toshiba Satellite A135-4427 screen


  • First, purchase your replacement LCD display for your exact model of Toshiba A135. I found mine for about $110 with shipping.
  • There are five screws hidden beneath rubber bumpers around the screen. Carefully use a small flat screwdriver to remove the pencil eraser sized rubber bumpers - one at each corner, with the fifth at the top center. Make sure you carefully remove the sticky stuff they used to adhere the bumper to the screw as well. Set these carefully aside.
  • Remove the five screws and set them aside.
  • Gently press down at the inside plastic frame until it pops out slightly. Gently press towards the center of the screen at the sides of the inside plastic frame until it pops out.
  • Carefully separate the front and back plastic shell around the screen. Set the front plastic frame aside. You may need to loosen some of the white tape used to keep wires attached to the rear plastic shell. Gently lower the rear plastic shell away from the LCD, but leave as many wires attached as possible.
  • On the back of the LCD there is a large cable. Carefully pull up the tape that holds this cable in place and pull the cable down to remove it. You will also have another piece of white tape on the back of the LCD to peel back. The tape is important - don't tear it or get your fingers in it to remove its stick!
  • At one end you will see a set of a few wires plugged into a piece still attached to the rear plastic shell. Unplug this.
  • No wires should still be plugged into the LCD anywhere at this point.
  • Around the LCD there are six small screws. Remove these and set them aside. You now have now removed the old LCD.
  • Reverse this process to re-assemble.
  • You may want to use some blue LockTite (which can be found at hardware stores) for the screws as you replace them. Additionally, you might need a little rubber cement to re-attach the rubber bumpers at the last step. If you do not re-attach these bumpers, your screen will quickly become scratched by your keyboard touching it when the lid is closed.

DS power problem


Hi Nerts,

 

These cables or ribbon cable and wire connects directly inside the upper LCD monitor. it is not feasible to replace these wires only.  I suggest you see about getting a replacement upper LCD screen which will give you the wires you need and a new screen to boot. Another porblem is the case itself is very hard to disassemble.  You will come near destroying the case to ge to the lcd.  You must disassemble the unit fully and put the correct curl in the ribbon cable to get it to fit right. In short, the price being what it is for a replacement LCD, and the trouble you have to go though to get this problem fixed, It may not be totally worth repairing. If you dont care and wish to do a repair, then my wishes for luck are with you.
