Using WRTS4GS2 Cisco Router and could not access the internet. Remobed router and had instant access to the internet.

Contact your ISP. Some ISPs limit the number of computers that can simultaneously connect to your cable-modem. If you change computers, you have to tell your ISP.

Or, power-off your cable-modem, to "reset" it.
Connect the Cisco Router to the cable-modem.
Power-on your cable-modem.
Power-on your router.
Connect your computer to your router, and see if you get Internet access.

My linksys w/2phone ports cannot hook up with the ethernet

Most Cable Internet Service Providers (ISPs) use Media Access Control (MAC) Address authentication to establish Internet connection for end-users. MAC address is a unique identifier assigned to the network adapter/s of the computer.
To set up your Linksys router to work with a Cable ISP, you have to enable the MAC Clone feature of the router. MAC Cloning is a procedure which enables a router to copy the MAC address of the computer registered with the ISP.
To set up a Linksys router with Cable connection, you need to perform four steps using the computer that's been registered with the ISP:
i. Verifying Internet Connection
ii. Connecting the Devices Together
iii. Checking the Router's LEDs
iv. Setting Up a Linksys Router for Cable Internet Connection

Verifying Internet Connection
Connect the computer to the Broadband modem using an Ethernet cable without the router installed. If you cannot get online, contact your ISP. If it's online, use the computer to set up the router.
NOTE: Some cable modems use the USB port. If the physical connection is via USB port, you may not be able to go online via Ethernet connection. Contact your ISP to have the Ethernet port of the modem configured.

Connecting the Devices Together
After confirming the Internet connection through the modem, connect the modem to the Internet port of the router; connect the computer to any of the four Ethernet ports at the back of the router. For instructions, click here.
Checking the Router's LEDs
After connecting the devices together, check the lights on the front panel of the router. Ensure that the Internet light, as well as numbered light corresponding to the Ethernet port where the computer is connected, is lit. For further instructions, click here.
Setting Up a Linksys Router for Cable Internet Connection

Step 1:
Access the router's web-based setup page. For instructions, click here.

NOTE: If you are using a Mac computer to access the router's web-based setup page, click here.

Step 2:
On the Setup tab, click the MAC Address Clone sub-tab.

Step 3:
Select Enabled then click Clone My PC's MAC.

Step 4:
Click Save Settings.

Step 5:
Click the Status tab.

Step 6:
Check the Internet IP Address. If the Internet IP Address has numbers, this means the router has been properly configured. You should now be able to access the Internet. If you're still unable to access the Internet, powercycle the modem, the router and then restart the computer.

NOTE: If the IP address is still, click IP Address Release then, click IP Address Renew. If this does not change the IP Address, powercycle the modem, the router and then restart the computer.

Changed ISP provider and is not able to connect to internet through linksys wireless router, model # wrt160n

Have you gone to your new ISP providers website, and surfed the internet?
I know, most routers have to be registered to gain access to the internet.
You might have to manually input the MAC address (found on the bottom of the router) to your ISP, then sometimes it takes anywhere from 5 minutes to 1 hour for the router to register, depending on your ISP.

After the router is registered, you can plug or wireless connect to the internet.

That means that your router is functioning properly on your network, communicating with other devices, but your ISP (Internet service provider) connection is malfunctioning, out of service, or otherwise experiencing a problem. Your router can't connect to the Internet because of a problem somewhere between the router and your ISP, or your ISP and the Internet.

Hi momo105! HI! I bliv u are having some issue setting up ur router.. I will be more than glad to assist u. Dont use the setup cd, sometimes it works, sometimes its not. here are the steps u need to do:
1. press the reset button on the back of the router for 15sec.. after that unplug the router for 15secs then plug it back in..
2. connect the ethernet cable to port1 of the router and the other end to the lan port of your computer..
3. pull up ur browser then type at the url: it will ask u the username and password, if not try default the username is admin and the password - 1234
4. it will show the setup page of the router. u can set the router on the specific internet setup that u have.
a. if ur isp is a cable company, normaly u need to do a mac clone on the router setup page by cloning the computer that is reg to the cable company, how to determine it. ex. the computer that is reg to the cable company is a desktop or laptop, if this computer is connected to the modem directly and u can access internet.
b. once u determined it u need to connect this computer directly to the router and do a mac clone and set ur internet settings to auto-dhcp..then save the settings and after that, unplug to the power of the modem and router, plug in 1st the power of the modem then once all lights lit, plug in the router, then once all lights lit, try to pull up a browser that ur computer is connected directly to the router.. ur cable connection shud be, cable from the modem will go to the WAN port of the router and connect ethernet cable on port1 going to the lan port of the computer..once u can access the internet, u can now access again the setup page of the router by typing at the url: and u can setup the wireless settings, u need to create a ssid or wireless name and a security..
5. If ur isp is a dsl normaly they give u a username and password to connect to the internet, ur settings on the router should be PPPoe
6. If ur isp gives u a static ip address settings, u need to set the router to isp setup.
a. how to check the isp of the isp given to u..
1. click on start
2. run
3. type cmd
4. it will show a dos prompt
5. from the dos prompt type ipconfig/all
6. it will list the ip address, subnet, default gateway, dns server
this settings should be type in to the settings on the router for static ip addressing..

if you have any querry pls feel free to get in touch.. good luck
