Casio Exilim EX P 600

Lens just suddenly would not retract and a clicking noise (possibly slipping gear?) can be heard.

Please advise to the most likely problem and the cost / time to fix it.

I am sure you have tried pushing the lense in as it grinds or taking the battery out and reseting this will not help with your problem. What you need to is press the on/off button as the lense is set to retract with your thumb and forfing put a little force in the clock wise direction and make sure your pushing at the base of the lense. So if your looking at the lcd screen you want to be turning it to the left. This should fix your problem it may reoccur at times in that case repeat the same process it saves having to bye a new camera.

I own a casio exilim ex-z850. it has been showing a lens error, every time i try to take switch it on. the memory card is fine, i view the pictures. but the lens wont open up or anything. please reply...

This error indicate that focusing ring got stuck or jammed due sand, dust, may be due to external shock caused by dropping the device.
  • You can gently bump the camera to try to free the focusing ring.
  • You can try to turn camera ON at the table (facing it to the ceiling), don't put camera down face to the floor when opening.
  • If motor is running but lens won't retract sometimes lens would slip off with the gear or break off a tooth in the gear when it gets dropped. Try to gently move the lens barrel around with the finger and see if it is moving, but if tooth or gear is broken lens will move onces or twice then it will stuck again.
Else your camera need to be disassembled to get at the focusing ring at Service Center.

Good luck and have a nice day.
Rating the solution is highly appreciated.

Casio EXILIM camera lens will not extend fully!!!

Try plugging the PC interface cord into the external connector. No need to hook it up to your computer, just plug it in and out a few times. Then try to power up the camera.
Good luck.

Casio EXILIM camera lens will not extend fully!!!

It's the focus lens gears. The often times get knocked out of alignment by an impact, or debris gets in there. This can be fixed, but Casio won't help. my username. ;)

Lens error

This is the lens focus gears. They are either knocked out of alignment, or debris has jammed them. The good news is it can be fixed....Casio most likely won't help. my user name.

Noise when turned on

Sounds like the gears are stripped in your lens. Send it into repairs and they will send you an estimate on what it would cost to fix it. Give them a call at 800-706-2534 option 2.
