Question about Sony Handycam DCR-TRV250 Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Can't see anything

In the camera mode, there is nothing but a blur which doesn't even seem to be light dependent. The VCR playback is fine in both monitors

A couple of years back Sony had a recall on this camera because of defective image sensors. I called Sony and got an address to UPS the camera to and got it back 2 weeks later working just fine and got a couple more years of life out the camera before I got the 31:22 error.

Unable to take pics. Old pics available, but can't get new ones. Unintelligible blurs on screen. Going through resetting default procedure leads to "Busy".

It seems Canon A95 camera got ccd imager chip problem that is why you do not get live view in camera mode to take fresh pictures but camera shows old pictures in playback mode.
Let me know if this diagnosis is correct to proceed further.

Grainy photos. Blur in low light. I have tried all the settings and nothing is helping.

Grainy photos is due to high ISO that is needed to capture photos in low light. The solution to that problem is to use flash.
Blur in low light would be due to a long shutter speed in an attempt to capture enough light to get a properly exposed photo. Again, the solution here is to use flash.
Auto mode with flash on is just fine in this situation-- you could also try night mode if you wish.

To whom it may concern, Slightly blurred red/pinkish LCD screen when camera is switched on. If I look at pic's taken before this happened they look ok on LCD screen. 1 week ago I switched the camera on...

Do the pictures still look this way when they are downloaded to your computer or just when played back on the camera screen? Was the camera exposed to high heat (like being left in a hot car)?

How do I change the vcr to 'SLP' - it seems to be stuck on 'SP'. (There is no "speed" button on my remote.)

Use the remote to get into the setup menus. There may be an option to change tape speed when recording. Alternatively, when you press record on the remote (or deck), you may have option to change the tape speed there.

The VCR part of your deck may be able to playback, but not record in SLP mode.

Searched around for the manual for your machine, and though there are references to it, it appears that a manual / information page doesn't exist for the model # that you listed.

Blurred images

Any number of things.
Low ISO. No Flash. No tripod. Too little light. No "shake" correction on the camera.
Depending on the goal of the photo, you may wish to use a tripod. Or use the flash. Or use a higher ISO (400+). Or any combination of these.
The easiest thing to do would be to make sure you use a flash. If you're trying to take a photo of something without the flash, you'll have to use a tripod. And even then, if something is moving fast through the frame, it'll likely be blurry. You simply need more light.
If you're new to digital cameras, I recommend the automatic settings. There's an "action" mode which usually has a man running as an icon. Or someone in motion. Some cameras even have settings for use at night or in darker rooms. Try those.
If you feel comfortable, you could manually bump the ISO up to 400 and try again. Your photo may be a little "grainer" and will probably look a bit ugly blown up much over a 5x7, but for 4x6 or anything online, it should be fine.

I need more information to help with this problem. What model is the camera? Is it a single-lens reflex camera, or a camcorder? The more details I can get, the better I will be able to research and recommend solutions. Thanks.

CCD sensor faulty and camera will not work in capture mode ... only playback mode. Have new CCD block installed and camera will work fine.

Canon Powershot A75 blurred LCD display

It sounds like the focus element in your lens is not functioning properly. Does the lens retract completely when you turn off the camera? When you push the button does the camera attempt to focus the image? If you do not see any change in the image when you push the button, and do not hear any sound - then your focus motor is either jammed or malfunctioning. David Millier Advance Camera Repair
