How To Find Windows 7 Administrator Password

Windows 7 administrator password is the password to any account that's setup to access administrator level functions in Windows 7.
There doesn't actually have to be an "Administrator" user account. What you need is the password to any account that can act as an administrator.
You will need to take a few times to get this password. You may need an administrator login password in Windows 7 if you're trying to run certain types of programs or access certain Windows 7 recovery tools.
Follow the steps below to efficiently find the administrator login password in Windows 7!
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: Finding the password to an admin user may take minutes up to hours depending on the situation
Here's step by step guide:
  1. Try leaving the password blank. If there is actually an Administrator account, the password may not exist at all!
Just press Enter without typing anything when the logon asked for it.
  2. Enter the password to your account. Often times, depending on how Windows 7 was setup on your computer, the primary user account will also be an administrator user account.
  3. Try to remember administrator login password. As I mentioned in the last step, your account might be an administrator account, especially if you installed Windows 7 on your computer yourself.
If that's true, but you've forgotten your password, you might be able to make really good guesses at what the administrator password might be.
  4. Have another user enter his or her credentials. If there are other users that have accounts on your Windows 7 computer, one of them may be setup with administrator access.
If this is true, have the other user designate you as an administrator as well.
  5. Recover the administrator password using a Windows password recovery tool. You may be able to recover or reset an administrator password with one of these free tools.
Note: Some password recovery tools on the list I have in connection with the above change and the ability to set user accounts in Windows 7 Administrator account. This can be useful if you know the password, but it is not an administrator account.
  6. Perform a clean install of Windows 7. This is a last resort option. This type of installation will completely remove Windows 7 from your PC and install it again from scratch.
If you're just curious about the administrator password, I would not recommend this resort. However, if you need an administrator password to access the operating system of diagnosis and this is your last effort to save the computer running a clean install will work.
Keep in mind that it is a time consuming process due to the fact that all of your data must be backed up and then later restored.
Looking for your administrator login password but you don't have Windows 7? See How to Find Windows Administrator Passwords for instructions tailored for other Windows operating systems.

Assign ip address

Which operating system and type of router ?
Use dos comand
The administrator account on a Windows machine is the main, root user name that gives full access to the machine.

Administrators should change this password frequently to avoid unauthorized access to the domain or desktop machine.

This can be done in the Windows Control Panel, or use the "net user" command in the Windows DOS prompt.

Log in to the machine using the administrator username and password.
You can also use an account that has administrator privileges on the domain or desktop computer.

Click the Windows "Start" button and select "Run" or "Start Search" (depending on your version of Windows).
In the text box displayed, enter "cmd" and press the "OK" button.
This opens the command prompt window.

Type "net user administrator <new password>" into the command prompt.
Replace "<new password>" with the password you want to set.

Enter the password again for confirmation.
Once you enter it again, the administrator password has been changed.

Test the new password by rebooting the machine and logging in with the new administrator password.

I dont know the wifi password -windows 7 of my broadband

When you power up the wireless router and the LEDs are ON then the router appears to be OK and this also applies to the DSL or cable wireless modem. To check if the modem is configured to your ISP settings and the modem connects to the Internet, connect the modem with a LAN cable to your laptop and check if you can get into the Internet. To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router's wireless settings configured and also needs the wireless cards in all the laptops and or computers to be configured with the router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router. To set-up and secure the wireless router from unauthorized access, follow these steps: - 1, Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable.
2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL IP address.
3. Enter the router setup, login and password
4. Change the admin password
5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast.
6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WPA2 (if not then WPA). The encryption key can be easily set up using a passphrase (it can be an alpha numeric phrase or words). 7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router.
8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings.
9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router.
10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router wirelessly.

I have a compaq computer model 5bw220 5000 series and my moden needs to be reprogram and i dont have the cd. i dont know what modem it has. can you please help.

If the modem is internal, look in your hardware manager to locate the brand and type of modem, if its external, check the id plate on the rear of bottom of the case, then go to the manufacturers website, look under support for the software. You can also access the modem through your web browser using its own IP address. Type the address into the address bar of your browser. When the modem asks for a password, use admin in the user name and admin in the password, or use password for the password, then locate the details you wish to change, change them and then click on save and reboot.. The IP address of the modem can be access using the IPCONFIG /ALL command or check the label on the modem or, go to the manufacturers website and check the manual..

Can't connect to internet thru 2wire modem on new computer

check the ipaddress. go to start -> run -> type ipconfig and hit enter. if you have a 169.x.x.x then you have an invalid ipaddress. if you have any other address go to start -> run -> and type ping if you recieve replies then the problem is browser . if you dont get replies then check your dns and verify with your isp that that is the correct address. if all checks out then call your isp and tell them they need to replace the modem wether is cable or dsl.

How do I disable wireless capabilities on my modem

Hi louanne,

If your modem/router was provided by your internet service provider (ISP) you may check the configuration with them. Your modem/router wireless capabilities can be disabled by accessing the device. You should be able to get the IP address, default gateway and the username and the administrator password. Your computer should be hardwire to the modem to get the ip address or the default gateway.
