Cannot get into my computer as my son set it up for himself as the administrator.I have recently had broadband fitted but cannot connect to internet as a guest user. The administrator password has bee

If you had regular user access to the computer before getting internet service, you should be able to connect even without administrator access. First try connecting with a cable to your internet modem directly without going through a router or over wifi. There are jacks on both the modem and your computer that would be connected to using a standard Ethernet cable, which you can get at Radio Shack and now many drugstore or dollar stores.

The term 'Guest user' implies a wifi (wireless) network, with regular and guest segments. Depending on who set them up, these segments generally require some form of password to access them. On a Windows PC, which has to have a wifi card operating on it to make the connection, look for an icon on the lower right portion of the taskbar that is supposed to look like a monitor with a cable beside it. Hover your mouse over this icon and it should have an option to list available networks. Click on this option and you should get a list of wireless networks detected by the PC. Choose the one you want to go on and click on Connect. That should bring up a dialog box where you can enter the password for the network. Some cable companies put a sticker on their cable modem/routers with the network identification and password printed on them. If you don't see such a sticker or have some information in your installation manual for the cable connection, you will have to contact your installer to get the information in order to proceed. Be sure to type in the password EXACTLY as shown (paying close attention to upper and lower case and not putting in any extra spaces).

Ll i need to put password to my accese point (dlink) please tell me how ?

Setting up a wireless router with a Windows client can be complicated.
There are a number of measures and options that have to be understood, and it's all too easy to make a mistakes but D-Link provides an easy to walk through configuration system to help you set up your D-Link wireless router.

Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the DSL modem.

Then plug the other end into the "WAN" port on the back of the D-Link wireless router.

Connect wired computers to any of the other Ethernet ports on the router using another Ethernet cable.
Access the D-Link Configuration Screen

Open your web interface and type "http://192.168.0.1" into the address bar, then hit "Enter" or "Return."
Use "Admin" as the username and leave the password blank when the login screen appears.
Click "OK." You should now see the D-Link configuration screen.
Set Up General Security

Change your administrative password by clicking on the "Tools" tab and choosing the "Admin" button.

Enter a new password under the "Administrator" heading.
Confirm it, and click "Apply."
Disable the wireless Local Area Network (LAN) if you don't need to use the wireless access and you want to make sure no one else is able to access your network.
Under the "Home" tab, choose "Wireless" and select the "Off" option.
Enable Wireless Encryption Protocol (WEP)

Locate the "Home" tab in the D-Link Configuration screen, and click on the "Wireless" button.
Use the "Open System" button beside "Authentication."
Select the "Enabled" button next to "WEP," and set the encryption key to "128 bit."
Set the "Key Type" to "ASCII" and choose a 13-digit password for the "Key 1" field.
Write down the password in a secure location.
Click "Apply." Change the SSID

Change the SSID to make it more difficult for others to locate and use your network by clicking on the "Home" tab and locating the "Wireless" button.
Change the default SSID to one of your choosing, then click "Apply."
Disable SSID broadcasting. Under the "Advanced" tab, click on "Performance" and check off the "Disabled" box. Again, click "Apply."
Filter MAC Addresses

Click the "Advanced" tab in the D-Link "Configuration" screen and select the "Filters" button.
Choose the "MAC Filters" and click on "Only Allow Computers with MAC Address Listed Below to Connect to the Network."
Enter the name and MAC address of the computers allowed to access the network, beginning with the one you are currently configuring. Click "Apply."

How do I change my wireless password

Hi
You can do this easily as long as you have access to the Internet.
1.First connect your Ethernet cables. One cable should run from your router to your modem and the second should run from the router to your PC.
2.Access your wireless router's administrator page. The URL to access this page will vary depending on the brand of your router. See your router's user manual for the proper URL to access the administrator's page.
3.Enter your username and password. If you have yet to set your username and password, consult your user manual. Many times, the username and password are "Admin" for the username and "Password" for the password.
4.Open the wireless security section of the administration page.
5.Change and confirm a password to place on your router. Sometimes the software will generate a random mix of letters and numbers. This is the encryption, and you should be sure to write these numbers.
Also check this link to get a detailed idea related to your issue:-

Hope it will help. Also you can get back to me if you need further assistance.
Thankyou.

Hi

"Yes" for installing any flash or any type or program you might Administrator password.
As default Ubuntu has no password set for the root user. To gain root access you have to type in your own user password. This is the password you set for the first user while installing Ubuntu. To manually set a password for the root user, type in the following in the shell:

sudo passwd

After that you are asked to type in the new root password twice. Finally, your root user has its own password.

Now you enter the your password to install the flash or any other program.

I can't access my routers administration page. It tells me to type in http://192.168.0.1 and all I get is a bunch of search results instead of the administration page

disconnect your modem from router, or turn off your modem from router...

Now try to open...

because the router admin page will be built inside the router itself... so you never require internet connection to be ON for opening the router admin page...

How to acess modem

To access a modem, you need to connect your modem directly with your computer using ethernet cable.

Then you need to click on start and click on RUN. Type in there CMD and press enter.

In case of Vista, type in CMD in Start Search then right click on CMD which you got asd result and select "Run as administrator".

It will open up a black screen. You will get a blinking cursor. Type in there ipconfig and press enter.

It will show you three details which will be
IP address
Subnest mast and
Default Gateway

You need to note down the number written in default gateway.

Now open up Internet Explorer or Firexfox.

Clear the address bar and type in number which had noted in above step and press Enter.

As per you modem setting it might ask you your modem username and password else if it doesn't happen then you will be able to get your modem firware page.

You can yry following username and passwords:

Username: admin
password: Blank (I mean simply press enter)

Username: admin
Password: Password

Password: admin
