It seems is a lens erro for your camera, and none reset will helpful, and you can read these 2 article maybe helpful: lens error E18 and turn off and on again
Commonly, there is something loose inside the lens, such as a screw. So when you try to start it, it makes noise.
Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...
Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:
Turn on camera, makes grinding-type noise, then lens goes in and out
several times...try to put your camera in a table lcd side down and turn it on...while lightly tapping on the sides of the lens. also try to check out this link http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_servicerepair_warrantyinfo.asp
this is probably caused due to a fall or so.. try to technically have a 360 look at the sides of the lens were at one instant u will notice a slight droop.. now u have to carefully push the lens in carefully with **** like motion for which a click noise will be heard... and will go back in...
If the internal lens barrel gets knocked out of alignment it will cause that condition. If the camera senses that the lens is not in the proper position or not moving, it will turn back off rather than cause more damage. Pushing on the lens barrel to try to fix it will usually cause more problems than it already has. It has to be disassembled to be repaired.
at this point you may also want to check on your warranty status.
I had what sounds like the same problem. The camera was dropped and the shutter was stuck open. Just kept showing error message.
As I felt I had nothing to lose I began tapping it on a soft book and the shutter started to appear. I then shut it just using the end of my finger. When I then turned the camera on again it opened and shut when turned off. It has worked fine ever since.
Seems a rather poor design. Hope this helps. Very best regards Peat.
