Cannot see my friend on Skype

Hi there
Start by looking at your camera settings,sending.
Is it only onepair of friends you cannot see.or allcalls you get. If it is only the one pair. Ask them to lookat their camera settings.Skype has relativly good way of putting you on the right track.

It should be camera problem. Take it to Toshiba shop and check what's up.

This is more an experience than a solution.
I lost my sound from me so what I did was to download Skype again and what do happened?
the sound came.
Why not try to download it again???
You might also check your camera.
Being in Europe myself I enjoy "skyping" with my friend in the States wvwnthough she does not have a camera

The only thing that I can think of is that you also have something else open that is using the camera. Does the camera show up in Photo Booth or ichat? Do you have ichat open at the same time as Skype. Make sure you close ichat, photobooth, and Skype (and anything else that uses a camera) and then re-open only Skype. If you have something else open that uses the camera when you open Skype, Skype will be unable to use the camera.

click the down arrow to the right of 'chat' on the far left column.... select chat settings, and make sure your cam is selected in the drop menu.

Whenever I am in a video call with someone. They can always see me, but I can never see clear them. I don't think it is a problem with my ATEK camera, because I can see myself in the little box in the corner on the skype window. The screen where I should be seeing the other person, is usually a light blue or gray. How can this be fixed?

Normal 0 Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:

After downloading and installing Skype set it up as follows:

1. Go to TOOLS, then OPTIONS, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
2. Then click on the Video Settings.
3. The camera if installed properly will come up and show a picture.
4. Then on the bottom of the page click on Save.

The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now see and talk to you.

B. Yahoo Setup:

After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger set it up as follows:

1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.

When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.

Solution was I needed to download the latest edition of Skype!

Try disconnecting the Camera from the USB port and reinstall the CD or Downloaded software program. When the program asks you to connect the camera to the USB port, do so and it should work.
Then to use it on the Web do this.

2. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”.
3. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on “ “Action.”
4. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting” and follow the instructions.

NOTE: Your audio and video should work. Enjoy.
When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.
