I have a Brother MFC 8440..the paper has vertical black lines

I have a Brother MFC 8440..the paper is coming out blackened with tiny black vertical lines so the entire paper looks dark. i have cleaned the demagnitizer bar on the drum which didn't help.

Try changing the toner, if it's generic that's your problem, and if it's either an old brother drum or a generic you may need a new one. There is also a glass to clean, it's right above where the drum sits inside, 1/2 inch wide across the top. Wipe with a dry cloth.

BROTHER MFC-8440, shows Paper Jam, however all the paper has been removed. We have shut & restarted the printer, restarted the computer. Cleaned the printer, readjusted the paper tray etc. It continues...
Nothing to do, just shut off the printer and wait for 5 min. Then remove the tray and adjust the tray according to paper size and then try to print.

I have a brother MFC 8440 and the document feeder has never worked properly. It pulls the documents in slightly off line and causes the paper to jam before it gets to the scanner. It is out of warranty...
you might have some type of foreign debris covering the paper path, you might want to try heavier paper (almost like a thin cardboard) and try to manual drive it into the paper path, do not force it too much if it wont budge.

also try cleaning your pickup roller, lint free cloth with iso-propel alcohol.

Brother mfc 8440 paper tray is open about 1-1/2'' and is stuck and won't come out or go back in. There is something locking it in place. The spring-loaded paper bed is in the up position and won't move....
1. I took bottom metal support bracket off, probably didn't solve issue.
2. Adjusted paper width guide, on gears, when I did that, spring loaded piece that paper lays on released, pushing down, and I was able to remove paper drawer.

I replaced toner and drum. Still get change drum soon and now I get a black line at the left edge of the paper
You have to reset the counter. Stop a print or copy job with the paper still in the unit and see where the line comes from, ie fuser transfer etc.

Brother MFC-8440 All-In-One Laser Printer Paper jam How do I correct this? There is no paper along any pathway!!
does it ever reset by opening and closing front door? if not, there could be paper stuck in fusing area behind rear door. open and inspect. if you see no paper, pull drum unit out and locate open slot in the bottom, center of drum unit. could be a small scrap of paper in that slot.

My fax Machine has lines going each page that prints out
Get a can of air, open the unit and blow it out.
Also, clean the glass.
That should help solve the problem

Hello, I have Brother printer MFC 8440.I keep getting mesaage that i have paper jam. I checked all places and there is no paper jam.How can I fix that problem?
It's possible there is still a very small scrap of paper left. If you have a can of air blow it in and try to dislodge it. If that doesn't work try to unplug it wait a minute and plug back it.

Brother mfc 8440
Printer thinks its out of paper when its not. Displays messsage "Check Paper - Reload Paper." Have emptied and replaced paper stack several times. No visible jam. Have shut down and restarted. Still not fixed.
