The monitor enters the Safe Mode and it gets black in 5 seconds, so I cannot check any settings. Anything I could do to get to the normal view?

my monitor (ChiMei cmv 221d) turns on when loading windows, but then goes to standby when it gets to the vista login screen. i have my 58' plasma tv connected and it swaps to the tv. My Nvidia control panel wont switch to both monitor and tv. I have tryed uninstalling the Nvidia drivers and then the tv wouldnt work and the monitor did. When the Nvidia drivers are back in the monitor goes to standby and the tv is used. I have tried changing the power saving settings, and my monitor still goes to standby. Please help

Boot up using safe mode, then check the display properties for the Energy Monitor Power settings under the Screen Saver tab.

LG W2261 + Windows Vista + Power saving mode

When you have access to windows, go to control panel and select Power options and change to time windows puts the monitor to sleep. You can set it so the monitor from a couple of minutes to never goes to sleep. This might help your problem.

Monitor going right to sleep mode on start up

Sounds like a bad graphics card. Try using monitor wit another computer and see if the problem still exists. This rules out the display.

MONITOR GOES BLANK

Did you recently change or install a program that would affect the resolution and card output? Try booting into safe mode by holding the "shift" key during boot. From there right-click on the desktop and hit 'properties'-> 'display properties' -> 'settings' , check your resolution and drop it to 800x600 and then reboot. If everything goes back in normally make sure you have the right windows drivers for your video card. You can also check the driver version and settings while you're in safe mode. Sometimes the windows update drivers can act screwy and I would recommend getting them directly from your card manufacturer.

I think your monitor is unstable. Is it showing power saving when you boot your PC? Does it show something when the Windows XP splash appears?
