Re: ps3

You can only sign into your Playstation account if you are using your own user profile on the far left of the XMB.

Do a Network test to see if you can even connect to PSN. Go to Settings, Network Settings, and do and Internet Connection Test.

if your test doesn't show your NAT type as either 1 or 2 then your router is being to restrictive. Try changing some of the settings to allow the PS3 full access to the internet.

It's a known problem for Playstation users.but the answer is to disable universal plug-n-play on the router. Disabling universal plug-n-play on the router is performed through the console interface.
Open a browser window and enter the router's IP address into the navigation bar. For most routers, the default IP address is
Enter the username and password used to access the router. Press "OK" and the console application will be shown in the browser window.
Click the "Password" tab. The UPnP settings are located in the same window as the router's password settings.
Select "Disable" from the box labeled "UPnP" and click the "Save" button. Close the router's console window. Start the Playstation machine and connect to the Internet

Cant update, gta 4 wont load, corrupted data

It's DNS error which means your router is having a hard time sorting IP address' for devices usually a cold boot to the PS3 and Router solves it wait 20 secs before turning router back on once its dialed out boot up the PS3 and then try it. But if not do this .

1) Leave your PS3 settings on automatic/easy (probably what you already had it set as before).

2) Locate the IP address of your router. For example’s sake, mine is a D-Link DI-604 with IP

3) Open a web browser (Firefox or Internet Explorer for example) on a computer connected to your router (The PS3’s browser might also work but I didn’t try that).

4) In the address bar, type in the IP address of your router.

5) If it asks for a username and password, enter whatever you set it as. If you never set one, check the manual with your router and it will probably give the default username and password. If you can’t find one, try username “admin” with no password.

6) Once you get in, look for the setting to enter "DNS Primary and Secondary." (In mine, it was under “WAN.”) Once you find it, enter the values above for DNS ( primary and secondary). - Mine had for both primary and secondary before I did this which makes me further believe that this was the problem. - Make sure to apply the changes.

7) Check the connection on your PS3 and hope that it is working.

By the way what router are you using that also helps to provide that info and does it have the latest Firmware update to it usually they say never to update if it works fine but I find updating such things fixes other faults you may come up with later on I do update my NetGear DG834GT router when a new 1 comes out.

I hope this works and good luck. Please vote appropriately and leave a message.

PS3 cant go online with Belkin N1 wireless router

I have exactly the same issue as some of you above. As soon as I start my PS3 I manage to log onto the network for anywhere between 2 seconds and 2 minutes before I get the dreaded 80710102 error and have to reboot the PS3 to reconnect. I wrote to Belkin tech support and got the following reply... I Haven't tried it yet so don't know if it really works but thought I'd post it up here in case it helps anyone else out...

Hi Antony,

Thank you for contacting Belkin Technical Support.

We understand that the router does not support PS3. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.

A) To isolate the problem, please follow the steps given below to update the firmware and configure the router:

We recommend that you update the firmware from a computer that is connected to the router with an ethernet cable.

Please download only the relevant firmware on the router from the link given below. The firmware file would be according to the router version:

and save it to the computer.

- To update the firmware, log on to the router`s web interface by typing in in the address bar of the browser. The computer should be
connected to the router with an ethernet cable.
Note: If you have changed your Router’s IP address, use that IP address.
- By default, the password is blank. Click the "Submit" button.
- Click on "Firmware Upgrade" under the option "Utilities".
- Click on “Browse” and select the bin file that you have downloaded.
- Click on “update” and follow the wizard.
- After updating the firmware, restore the router to factory defaults by clicking on "Restore Factory Defaults" under "Utilities".
- Reconfigure the router.

Please follow the steps given below for configuring the router:

- Disconnect the computer from your Modem provided by your "Internet Service Provider" (ISP) if it is connected to the computer.

- Reset the router to "Factory Defaults". The reset button is found at the back of the router. The reset procedure is,

- Unplug the power cable and then plug it back again. Wait for 5 seconds.
- Locate the reset button (inside a hole) at the back of the router.
- Hold down the reset button till the power-light turns solid, and then release it.

- Connect the router to either the telephone line or the filter.

- Connect the computer to port number 1 of the router.

- Make sure the corresponding lights are lit. The telephone light should be ON and solid.

- Make sure your computer has a valid IP address by following the steps given below.

1. Click on “Start” -> “Run” -> and type “CMD” and click “OK”.
2. Type “ipconfig” in the black window and check the IP address.
3. It should be in the range of 192.168.2.x, where “x” ranges from 2 to 254.

- If it is not a valid IP Address, please assign a static IP address, "Subnet Mask", “Default Gateway" and "DNS Addresses" in the computer by referring to the link below.

- Please reset the Internet Explorer browser settings by following the steps below.

- Open Internet Explorer. Click on “Tools” -> “Internet Options”.
- Under the General tab, click on “Delete Files” under “Temporary
Internet Files” and select "Delete all Offline content" box.
- Click on “Clear History”.
- Under the Connections tab, select “Never Dial a Connection” and
click on “LAN settings”. Uncheck all the options and click on “OK”.
- Under the Advanced tab, click on “Restore Defaults”.

- Log on to router setup page by typing “” in the address bar of the browser. By default the password is blank.

- On the left under “Internet WAN”, click on the option "Connection Type".

- Select “PPPOA”, (If it is ADSL)/ PPPOE (If it is DSL) and click on “next”.

- Type in the user-name and password and then re-type the password given to you by your ISP. Make sure you type in the full user-name.
For Example, the format for the User-name should be " or .net"

- Also confirm the settings of “VPI/VCI”, “Encapsulation” values from your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and configure the same.

- Change the “MTU” to “1400”.

- Click on “Apply Changes” button at the bottom. Wait till it saves the data.

- Click on Home on the right top corner and then click on the "Connect" button. You should be able to go online.

B) Configuration of PS3:

Please contact Sony and assign static IP address and DNS on the PS3. The static IP address should be assigned in the range of the router. For example: The IP address you assign should not be used by any other device on the network. Please confirm the ports to be opened for the PS3 from Sony.

1) Please follow the instructions given below to forward the port numbers for PS3 on the router:

- Please open the Internet Explorer and in the address bar type in "" and "Enter". The computer should be connected to the router with an ethernet cable.
- Leave the password blank and click on "submit".
- Click on "Virtual server" under the "Firewall".
- Enter the port number under "Inbound port" & "Private port".
- Enter the Static IP address of the PS3 under the "Private IP address".

- By default, the password is blank.
- Click on System setting under "Utilities".
- Against the heading "UPNP Enabling", choose "Enable".
- Click on "Apply changes".

Note: The NAT feature on the router is enabled by default.

If the problem persists, please get back to us with the following information:

1. Type of connection provided by your ISP (Is it PPPOE, Dynamic or Static).
2. Name of the Internet service provider (ISP).
3. Version number of the router. You would find the version number on the bottom of the device. It would be a number in a series of thousands with a prefix “ver.”. Please confirm if the router is F5D8635?
4. Using the router, if the connection is stable on all the wired and wireless computers?
5. If the PS3 works fine with other networks?
6. When does the error come up? If it comes up for both, CAT5 and CAT6 cables?
