If you do not have the software for your printer, you can go to http://www.brother.com and scroll down to the bottom of the page. You will see "support". click on that word and then find downloads and drivers. Identify your printer and download the driver. Then go to your computer settings and make that printer your default printer.

the brother printer is not a good brand i also have a brother mfc 3220cn and it gives the same problem, what you have to is unplug the machine and let it stand for about 2 days take out the cartridges and clean the printing with air replace back them and plug in.that should remedy your problem.i urge on you never to buy brother printers.if you buy them get a bottle of phensic along with it.good luck my brother.

firest you swithc off all the printers and wait for some minute then clear all printers queue by going in to printer folder then restart your system.

Hi
I recently had this problem - tested fuser and all sensors.
The fix is to reset the memory.
To do this, enter the Maintenance mode. Menu, * 2864
(enter the number quickly)
then type 01 ( zero one ), this will reset all memory including the user settings.
Finally type 99 to exit Maintenance mode.
The printer will restart and the error will be gone. Test out with copy and printer reports

Yes, if you dont need the color anymore in future:

You can cheat with empty c/y/m carts by sticking some dark but very thin adhesive tape around the nose (see picture).

After that the printer logic expects the c/y/m carts always as full.

But you cant print any colors within the next 2 weeks anymore because air will dry out the print head (and destroy the color nozzels)!

First things first:

press menu then start bk-copy then fourtimes arrow-up button. machine will display an error code no. plz post AS A NEW POST again.

BTW: The update has nothing to do with the stopping of the machine!

Outlook won't print to Brother MFC7360N AllInOne Laser Printer
Must be set on Brother MFC-7360N series. Set on PC-FAX will not print with all programs, as it is printing with an output through the fax. Go to control panel, select devices, printers to change to pc-7360 series. This should print on all programs.

OK ill help you A faxmachine has a buffer on it what it does is fasimilate the data into a text or message that can be printed what happens here is you have fax/printer the buffer for the printer should be on your computer and not be sent until your ready to print (also known as the print que) all print jobs should be saved when a fax comes in but when a fax comes in and you dont have print que software your printjob is lost. You may receive this error if the pc fax application is closed and you have faxes stored in the memory of the machine. To resolve this issue,you will need to print the faxes already stored in the memory of the machine. To print the faxes, please follow these steps:

1. Press the MENU key.

2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Fax.

3. Press the OK key to confirm your choice.

4. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Print Fax.

5. Press OK.

6. Press the BLACK START key.

- Your Brother machine will print the stored faxes.

7. Press the STOP/EXIT key to exit the menu.

8. Once the stored faxes have been printed, click WINDOWS/START, (ALL) PROGRAMS, BROTHER, XXX-XXXX (X = MODEL NUMBER), PC-FAX RECEIVING, XXX-XXXX or RECEIVE (depending on your operating system).

9. The Brother PC-fax receiving icon will now appear in your Windows Task Tray indicating that Brother PC-Fax Receiving is active.

Here is the exact answer from Brother:

Your Brother machine is designed to stop ALL printing operations
(printing from the pc, printing received faxes and printing copies or reports) when any of the ink cartridges are empty. This is to ensure the life of the print head and maintain premium print quality. If the unit were to continue printing, print jobs and cleaning cycles would suction air from the dry cartridge and damage the printhead. Even if you print in black only or change the print settings to MONO or GRAYSCALE to avoid printing in color, the programmed cleaning cycles would still suction the dry cartridge, because they are programmed to clean ALL the ink nozzles.

The only way to continue printing is to replace the empty ink cartridge or cartridges.

While memory is available, black and white faxes will continue to be received into memory. If a color fax is being received, the Brother machines HANDSHAKE will request the fax be sent as black and white fax.

All faxes received into memory will automatically print once the ink cartridge is replaced.

NOTE: Brother strongly recommends that customers do not use generic ink or refill their Brother ink cartridges. Using non-Brother supplies may affect the hardware performance, print quality and machine reliability since the ink formulation in genuine Brother ink cartridges prevent smearing and clogging of the print head. The Brother limited warranty does not apply to any problem that was caused by the use of unauthorized third party ink and/or cartridges.
