Blinking light on volume control

The light on the volume knob is blinking and no sound is produced, regardless of which source is selected (tv/dvd/radio/etc). Any ideas on what this means or how to fix it?

Any help is appreciated.

I had the same problem for days...I did my due diligence and checked all the web sites, until finally landing here. I thought I pressed every button on the remote (aparently missing just one).

Couldn't be that easy, so I tried it:

I am scoute37 and I posted above. The problem for me was I needed some shorting plugs in the back of the receiver. For now I am just using RCA cables and it is working fine. I called a auth repair shop and they put in my model number and someone else had it in for the same prob and this was the solution

I have a same problem, but on a rx-v1070, worked fine for a long time and one day i just turned it on and boom light blinking and no sound, if i crank the volume to about 80-90% i get distorted sound, i think our amps are gone, checked the fuses and they seem ok. Most likely its the amp. This unit was around $1200 back in a day. And it still produces sounds better then many recievers in stores today, too bad it has no 5.1ch surround.anybody have a solution pls let me know, for now i have a weak pioneer with 5.1 but no power.

I have an LG fb163 everything seems to function but no sound in the speakers

check mute button, source knob/button, speaker selection knob/button while its playing a cd or FM radio. Also if you have connected headphones the speakers would mute. Check the speaker connections. If the speakers are powered you need to connect them to a power source. If all these fail to produce sound consult a technician.

Kenwood A722L no sound and volume led blinking

This could be due to a faulty speaker relay (if your unit uses one). Normally, the unit will "wait" a couple of seconds after you turn the unit on. Then you will hear a "click" and the sound will begin coming through the speakers. If the relay is faulty, it would cause the problem you describe.

I have a Harman/Kardon AVR 235. I'm not getting sound for my tv and ps3 but sound from the radio. what should I check first?

Hi,
I would check that you have selected not only the right source (eg: DVD or CD etc...) but you also need to assign which inputs follows the source selected.
So for example, if you plugged in your PS3 to your AVR235 using the Optical wire, and you want to select DVD every time you want the PS3, you must go in to the menu and make sure that Optical "xx" is assigned to DVD.
Select the button "Digital" on your remote to select in the Digital Input, and select the appropriate one.
That being said, you also need to make sure your TV Speakers are Disabled, or Sound sent to External source. Check in your TV menu to make sure that in your sound menu, that you select "TV Speakers to OFF" or might be other options, the option name varies from TV to TV.
Same with the PS3, make sure that in your System Setup Menu, scroll down until you see Sound Settings and select Audio Output Settings and make sure you select your connection (whether it is Analog RCA, or Optical.) Then try it again and see what happens.
Hope this helps,

I cannot hear any sound out of my Polaroid TDX-01930B television.

Hello
First make sure that the "Mute" function is OFF. If it is set to "ON", no volume will be there.

Your TV has a volume lock function included [Global Volume Lock].

The remote comes preset to allow independent volume control of each selected device (Global

Volume Unlock). However, you may change the Volume Lock setting to Global Volume Lock so that

one device's volume will control volume in all other modes. After that, you can perform Individual

Volume Unlock on a selected device to set its volume control for independent operation or Global
Volume Unlock to remove all volume locking.
Locking Volume Control to One Mode (Global Volume Lock)
[1] Press and hold SET UP until the red LED blinks twice; then release.

[2] Enter 9-9-3 and then press the mode key for the device you want to control volume (for

example,TV). The LED blinks twice. Now when you press VOL+, VOL-, or Mute, the selected
device (for example, TV) will control the volume regardless of the current mode.
Unlocking All Volume Control (Restoring Global Unlock)
[1] Press and hold SET UP until the red LED blinks twice; then release.

[2] Enter 9-9-3 and then press VOL+. The LED blinks four times.
Volume is now independently controlled for all programmed devices.
Unlocking a Single Device's Volume Control
[1] Press a device key (TV, VCR/DVD, CBL/ SAT, or AUX).
[2] Press and hold SET UP until the red LED blinks twice; then release.

[3] Enter 9-9-3 and then press VOL-. The LED blinks four times. Volume is now
independently controlled for the selected devices.
OK

Yamaha rx-v1600. I am failing in my attempt to get sund out of zone 2 speakers. I have the 2nd zone speakers hooked into surround zone 2/3. In primary zone I only have center and surround back as my fronts...

After 6.5 hours, I am now listening to music outside on my patio using my rxv-1600!
Connect your speakers to the Presence Zone 2(3) output on back. Then power up amp and select zone 2 on front of amp. Nothing will happen, because as I found out, you must route an input to zone 2 or 3. Which is cool, because you can listen to something outside that is different from your inside.
You select what to route to the zone by pressing Zone Control button, just right of zone 2 and 3 button. While you see red zone light blinking, rotate input select knob to prefered input, i.e. radio/cd/aux/etc... also, you can adjust volume by pressing zone control and turning up the volume knob, only while ZONE light is blinking.
hope that helps, i know i was frustrated figuring that out!
