I was working on some Christmas presents when my machine apparently lost its mind! Suddenly, the embroidery arm shifted and tried to needle down on the plastic of the hoop. I turned the machine off and restarted it, reloaded the design and tried to start over, but now it will not recognize the hoops (any of them!) and keeps giving me the message "wrong hoop for embroidery. please check hoop and restart". I KNOW I have the correct hoop in the machine. I even tried programming it for a larger hoop than necessary and trying the corresponding hoop, but it will not recognize any hoop. Any advice??? Please help!!

Re: Husqvarna Des 1.. won't recognize hoops
The embroidery unit needs to be calibrated. Can only been done by a trained dealer. you can relax, it is not a major issue and shuold not cost you a arm and a leg. Ask the dealer to also calibrate your touch screen and download the working hours on your machine.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Sounds like you might be having problems with the machine not wanting to start sewing an embroidery pattern or not recognizing the hoop size. If the former, and the embroidery is full size (say 100x100mm), try reducing the embroidery slightly (say 98x98mm). If the latter, your embroidery unit may need slight adjustment to correctly identify the hoop. Its not an elaborate adjustment but you will probably need a profession to accomplish it.
Your machine would be able to perform 5 X 8 embroideries. The hoop size on this machine is recognized by the machine itself, depending of the embroidery file size. So it the embroidery is small, it will indicate that the small hoop is needed.
But U can use the large hoop, position the embroidery where U want then perform another embroidery on the sams hoop.
TRICK : the embroidery size exceeds the hoop? reduce it in X and or Y using this function on the machine
I'm a bit amazed that a Husqvarna technician was unable to do the minor adjustment to the embroidery arm - he needs to contact Husqvarna headquarters and ask for instructions. Meantime, you can still use your hoop (which by the way is my favourite hoop - it's a little beauty!). Tell your machine you are going to use the Large Hoop (6" x 9.5" or 150mm x 240mm) even though you are really using the 6" x 6" or 150mm x 150mm Do It All Hoop. Provided you have centred your design before loading it on your USb stick or floppy drive, it should work. However, just to reassure yourself, use the Check Size button on your touch screen to test the outside size of the embroidery and be sure it is not going to foul on the hoop borders. (It is the one on the second screen (press More to access this) once your have loaded your design - looks like little double arrows pointing to the corners of a square. Each time you press this button, the needle will zoom to each outer corner of your design in turn.
Remove the embroidery unit and see will come on then. If not, it is probably the PC board. If it does come back on, it may be the embroidery unit or the connection. Take to authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer for service or have them send it to Husqvarna Viking (SVP) Technical Service Department for repair. If you have a light gray button then you need to have the embroidery unit upgraded. The hoop will fit on the machine, but the machine can not recognize the hoop. The new hoop holder that needs to be installed will have a second sensor trigger allowing the machine to recognize more hoops. The original holder only has one trigger and can only recognize earlier hoops. Contact an authorized Husqvarna repair center to have your embroidery unit upgraded.
