Question about Bunn Coffee Makers & Espresso Machines

Bunn coffee maker

I have a bunn commercial/ home stainless steel coffee maker model LX00001005 lx 04400-0001 which quit working. The switch appeared to be worn out so I replaced it but while the warmer burner started to work again the heating element did not, i.e. the water would not get hot. Any ideas.

It sound like you are either missing the sprayhead or the temperature isn't hot enough. Check first to see if the sprayhead is there. It fits under the brew basket and looks like a little shower head - it's round and has usually five or six little holes in it. If it is missing your coffee will be weak due to the water not being spread across all of the grounds evenly.
The other thing to check is the temperature. Depending upon where you live the water should be between 185F - 200F. If the water is below that temperature the coffee may look like tea.

Most likely this is your heating element, but it could also be your main thermostat

SOURCE: the coffee is so hot it boils

Hello. If this is a 5 burner unit, only one is supposed to get really hot, the top right one, is for tea/water. Otherwise no other burners should get "red hot", ever. Either the controls have a problem, which is unlikely for them to all suddenly go bad, or something has shorted out, causing the current to find a path through ground or neutral. I would have a servicer check the unit. One can be found in the phone book under restaurant repair companies, or you can go to, and look up a local authorized servicer close to you.

Hope that helped, and thank you.

The unit may simply need to be decalcified. You may need to use a toothpick to remove blockages in the spray head, and there may be a flexible wire to assist in removing blockages behind the spray head leading to the tank (refer to owner's guide). If these measures fail it may be a problem with the thermostat/electrical system. For support go to:

inside they are the same, the 'plastic on the outside' one is no doubt much less expensive, and will clean easier, the stainless will look more handsome, and fancy

My Bunn BX-B just stopped working. The power is on, but the water will not heat, and the hotplate will not turn on? Is there a reset switch or some way I can trouble shoot this? Thanks,

The problem of the coffee maker is simply from the thermostat regulator. It is bad and need to be replaced. To fix this is quite expensive, and will require a professional touch from an expert that will be able to carefully disassemble am reassemble the components for you as the parts are quite sensitive to deal with.

There is no reset switch for this coffee maker, you just have to replace the thermostat before it can start working fine once again.

Hope this was helpful.

I have a commerical Bunn coffee maker. I ran vinegar to clean it out. It dripped very slow. Now, I get a 6 minute pot, the coffee is 180 degrees, but the coffee is very weak! What is up?

Coffee maker is not pre-heating the water. The brew cycle should take about two minutes, and the coffee should be 200°F when it comes out, that is why it's weak. To clarify, is it a commercial model, or a home model (like the one pictured)? Home models will have a 'vacation switch' on the side of the unit that needs to be on to get the water pre-heated properly.

Need the back switch that turns the pot on to brew(carlingswitch) for model NHB

For Service Contact:
Bunn-O-Matic (800) 352-2866

They call it "Vacation Switch"

I work on commercial equipment (including BUNN), and they don't use any names like this one in the commercial line.

My 10 cup Bunn coffee maker leaks from the top of the water resevoir, from the right top side and from the back top. It looses aprox. 2 cups of water onto my counter while brewing. What has happened to...

I have the same problem and I took the coffee maker apart to find out why. It has to do with a leak on a fitting. On mine I found that the fitting where the hole in the black plastic that the water flows through to get into the stainless steel tank needed to be repaired with some silicone sealant to fix the leak. Still making some coffee!
