On my new 16x52 monocular the main focus is stiff. What can I do?

you want it dampened but not too stiff. If it gets loose, it will defocus when your eyes hit the cups. I imagine you could try and work out the bind but in reality it should be stiff to focus. Focus helix uses a heavy white lithium grease. Dont dilute with WD40 or any other household lubes.

Rubber coating on Canon has turned gummy and leaving traces on anything that comes in contact.

I'll assume its sweat and grime from handling over it's life time. You could purchase "Wax & Grease remover for ten bucks at an automotive after market store and remove it with a rag. We use it to remove adhesive residue on cars prior to paiting (removed stickers, pin striping, door moulds/strips all leave a adhesive residue.)

A less toxic product could be tee tree oil or eucalyptus oil

I recommend the wax n grease remover as long as the sales person agrees that it's not going to eat into your rubber or discolor it (which I highly doubt but wont hurt to ask) This product is a great thing to have around the house for those *sticky moments* u want to get rid of "1-2 quick wipes and its done"

The diopter setting eyepiece has come out of the body of my Bushnell 10X42 ''Waterproof'' binoculars, model 13-2410. I see keyways inside, but cannot screw it back in more than about 1/4 turn, which is...

The entire diopter setting eyepiece was off.I separated the eye cup from the rest of the diopter setting eyepiece, and aligned the channel guides on the lens piece to slide it into place. Then holding it in place, taking care not to gum up the lens, I experimented with how to screw in the retainer ring so that its white dot registered correctly. Finally reattach the eye cup and focus. It's like new!

There is a white spidery thing growing in the lens what is it? can it be cleaned out ?

Good afternoon,
Without seeing your binoculars it sounds like the white spidery phenomenon growing in your lens is probably fungus. This is usually caused by improper storage or repeated access to water or high humidity. As long as the fungus hasn't eaten into the optic itself it can usually be cleaned off using a mixture of ammonia and water often times even Windex will work. The optics will need to be removed, cleaned and then placed back into the shells and calibrated.typically a repair of this nature will cost between 48 and $89. As long as you don't disturb the actual prisms themselves and you only have to remove the rear eyepiece or the front objective lenses you can usually accomplish this repair without having to recalibrate. If you'd like more information contact me directly with your exact model and make and I would be happy to discuss further repair with you.

Raytheon Palm IR 250D Problem:

Without the lens, the lcd screen is useless. The screens are pretty delicate and is probably broken if all you can see is white. Try it in a dark room. More than likely the on-imager screen is trashed. Try plugging a vcr / cam-corder into the video output on the device and you should get a picture there. Unfortunately, this limits your portability for the device. But you should be able to use it and the plus is that you can record your output.

Tasco OS36 Binoculars battery replacement

The screw you removed holds the battery cover in place. The cover is roughly rectangular with rounded corners. Once the screw is out, gently insert a sharp blade into the hairline crack between the cover and the binocular body and pry the cover off. The two watch batteries will be obvious.
