Firstly , this model comes equipped with a safety cut off that does not allow the motor to start when the cover and pusher assembly is not properly fitted to the rest of the unit.
If refitting the cover and pusher does not work , try changing the plug. This is often the only cause when the unit does not want to start at all.
Barring this does not work , the problem lies either with the safety switches or the motor itself. The motor comes standard with a 5 year garuantee so it should not be a problem having it replaced if it is still under warranty. I would take it to the purchase point , and they will send it off to be fixed which should not take more than two weeks.
The safety switches work by breaking/connecting a safety relay circuit in the unit when the covers are not on completely. These switches normally consist out of two metal plates touching each other. When the cover is inserted , it breaks this circuit and allows for power to reach the motor.
Depending on you experience with electronics repiar, I will gladly assist you with fixing this problem , although I do not suspect that this would be a costly repair.
If the unit is still under warranty , take it to your reseller and have it evaluated by cuisinart before attempting to fix it yourself. Hope this information is of use to you.
