Question about Sony DCR-VX2000 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Lens Hood Size

I bought a lens hood for my dcr-vx2000 with a 58mm radius size. But, it doesn't fit. Everyone I've talked to and even the manual showed this is the size I am supposed to get. I saw that my lens says 72mm. Should I have gotten a 72mm lens hood for it to fit properly? I didn't see that in any manual i looked at...all said 58mm, but that is too small for my camera.

Re: Lens Hood Size

The VX2000 lens does have a 58mm diameter thread for filters etc. The 72mm refers to the focal range (Zoom) from 6mm to 72mm. The 58mmm lens hood should fit, but I strongly suggest you obtain a SONY OEM lens hood with lens cap. Goto or other professional camcorder sites for these items.

Jvc GY-HM100u will not focus. I removed the lens hood to attach a wide angle adapter but could neither reattach the hood or get the camera to focus. I tried auto mode, auto focus, even reset the camera to...

The most likely cause for this is a zoom or focus lens out of place or impaired in some way. This will require disassembling camera to remove the lens block and then disassembling the lens block to repair. This can be done fairly inexpensively. However, it's not really a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

Cant shoot in sunlight on my honeymoon it was like the sun was directly in the lense even though it wasnt ...i have tryed every thing i can to fix this ..any solutions

It is difficult to diagnose with the no camcorder information but it sound like the camcorder is set for night settings. Do you have different settings in your menu or a switch to set to camcorder to daylight or normal conditions? You can also try to make a temporary lens hood out of the center of a toilet paper roll or paper towel center tube. Cut it short about 3/4" to 1" and hold in front of the lens to block the light from the lens. if this works you can purchase a more permanent lens hood. How old is the camcorder? CCD and CMOS sensors degrade over time and the sensor could be weak.

Suddenly broad bands appeared across the lens and then recorded on the tape. We did not drop or scratch the lens and this looks undamaged. Any ideas why ? Thanks Ro & Chantale

hi, lens of the cam maybe dirty or needs replacement even if you didnt drop it, if you can open it then you can clean it manually but i suggest to bring it to a service center to avoid damaging sensitive parts.

The front portion of my Panasonic DVX-100 is loose

AFTER REMOVING THE LENS HOOD Try to remove the 2 tiny screws in the front of the lens and then you see 4 more screws .What happened is that some force on the lens broke the plastic base for some of these 4 screws. So try with a small screw driver and be careful about flat cable of focus sensor

Need to replace lens

The DVC7 has a 43mm filter thread on its lens. Depending on your Bower's thread size, you may need a step-up or step-down adapter ring to fit it to the DVC.
After checking if you have your sizes correct, you need to remove the DVC7's lens hood. After that, it's just a matter of screwing the wide angle lens to the DVC's lens.
Hope this helps!
