Question about HP Scanjet 5500c Flatbed Scanner

1 Answer

Hard to explain...

I have an HP Scanjet 5500c When I scan a picture, the image is scanned but so is the "gears or working parts" of the scanner itself. So I get an image of metal with holes in it - part of the inside of the scanner.

I just purchased one of these scanners secondhand, and I have the same problem. You're seeing the underside of the lid where the film strip conveyors and other mechanicals are located. The previous owner (original purchaser) had a piece of white printer paper taped to the underside of the lid in order to prevent this effect. I'm really baffled as to why HP didn't install an insert for users who don't scan photographic prints and film strips.

I have upgraded to windows 7 but my scanner HP scanjet 5550c is not working

You can try the Vista driver, . However, HP is not going to guarantee it will work. This driver is a basic scanner driver without the rest of the software that HP provided for the scanner. If that driver or the generic TWAIN or WIA Microsoft scanner driver works, you will be able to scan to any Win7 compatabile software. Windows Fax and Scan and Microsoft Paint are built-in options (and acquire scans in Paint: File, Scanner or Camera, in Fax and Scan: File, New, Scan).

I hope this helps.

We have a HP Scanjet 5500c Scanner and when you try to scan a sheet the image scan all black, do you know why that is happening.

s.gif s.gif

See the item is placed correctly on the scanner glass or in the ADF.Make sure that the item you are trying to scan is placed face down onthe glass, or face up in the ADF. Ifyou are using the ADF, there might be a page on the scanner glass.Raise the ADF unit and remove any pages on the scanner glass. If you are using the ADF, the ADF window might need to be replaced.

If that is okay, Please check this link.
