Cid: Popups are suddenly appearing on my computer. (most of these are for casino sites) How do I get rid of this?

- Booting up in Safe Mode and running Adaware did find several viruses and removed them, but when I booted normally, after only a few minutes on the internet I got another CiD Popup for car rentals. Go figure?!

I'm re-running Adaware now incase it missed anything...

Good afternoon!
Sounds like you picked up a trogan from some site that you visited.
I would suggest that you download "AdAware" and run that. It's free and does an excellent job. Here is a link:
http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html

After you download it, go ahead and install it on you system. After installing it, power down your laptop, and bring it up again in Safe mode. Then go ahead and run the program. It may take 1/2 hour to 45 mins, or so.

The reason for bringing it up in safe mode is that this will allow AdAware to check out any hidden partitions. Some of the malware is built in a way that allows them to hide there so that they will not be found by a normal malware program.

- Another thought is, do you have popups blocked? In IE, that's found under the "Tools" tab on the main screen. On Netscape, it is found under "Tools", "Options" and then "Content".
