Vista OS is may need to re-install the OS....
some or many of the required files to load the OS is corrupt or missing...

the solution: Re-install Vista OS or Win7 or XP....
if your have your HD partitiond and have only OS and re-instalable programs in C: / and keep your critical data in say D: or you just need to format only C: and install the OS again....

Hello. I got a Toshiba m305-4848 pre-loaded

You have to format the drive...Vista can go"over" XP,but XP cannot override Vista.Or partition your drive and get a dual boot system, then you can choose either O.S., like I have.

I have Vista Premium 32 loaded on my comp, a Dell with an AMD dual core 64 proc'r. How can I load Vista 64? Do I have to format and start from scratch? All tests say my comp WILL support the 64 bit OS....

if you are not advance user then I would not suggest you switch over to 64 bit operating system...however if you wish to switch over then in this case u can do dual booting depending on the harddrive partitions as you have dell so in this case dell have only 1 partition so you have to format the harddrive and then you have to start from scratch other wise it might give you conflicts

Hey there

When u had purchased ur laptop probably you would have got the OS dvd. If not, then it is definate that you must have been provided assistance for making a recovery disc from their own feasible partition.

And If you have had not made the backup DVD then you must be trying to go to ur dealer and convey ur problem, i think probably they will provide you OS Backup.

Secondly while formatting ur laptop, you must have had aware of not to format the partition unless you made all important data from the partition you are going to format.

Once you formatted the drive you wont be able to recover ur data.
From now beware of above mentioned thing while formatting ur HD drive(s) partition.

Gimme ur acknowledge by rating me.
