Question about LG 32LC7D Television
When i tried to turn on TV, it goes black after 2 sec(the picutre quality is OK). LG service senter said inverter failed but it can only be replced along with LCD screen as it is montoted onto it. The price for LCD screen is 580$ which is almost the price for new TV.
Is there anyway to change inverter or somehow to fix it now?
Your problem is that your Time Control is over heating, if you can grab a simple used pc fan which works on 12v, you can connect it to your PSU using 12v + grd, on my PSU I just clipped a little of plastic on the connection and plugged in a pc 120mm 12v fan, red is for 12v and black for gnd. You will need to find a area to mount this fan, may have to do a little modding on the metaling plate that covers all your boards. I cutted out a little metal over the Time and made some holes on the back where the fan is below so that the fan may pull cool air in, the hot air will blow out from the side cuts of the back. After all that just enjoy watching your fixed lcd ;)

My LG 32lc7d 32 inch TV is 9 months old (December 2007 to September 2008) and now the screen goes black with sound and the channels will change I can hear them. Also when the TV is fine if I touch the remote it freezes the picture, so turn it off and on witch does not respond to the remote for five seconds, turn it on again & it works for 2 to 3 hours then same problem. LG claim its a software problem, well I got link to the firmware update down load to my memory stick and stuck it in the usb port on the back of the TV, software update fine no problem, TV reset all my preference are lost no problem I can set it how I like it ,but now worst things are happening the screen goes black after 15 to 20 minutes and no sound now ,so the firmware did not work but cased more problems and less viewing time .NNNOOO more LG product for me in life again .
I bought the TV for $1000 us and the DVD up converting player for $110 + sound system
So I could 1 remote to make life easer for me, but life is better for LG now since they have my money and all I have are their problems.
We should come together and attack LG about this problem or boycott them and their products for good, hundreds of thousands of people have this problem and nothing.
What’s the sense of a warranty if there no fix for your problems and you can’t get your money back. I have bought so many LG products and now no fix. There are millions of people who don’t have a $1000 us in there bank account..
I now feel like I was held at gun point and robbed by millionaire.

Well all the technical people can’t tell you with any real solution. Well my problems are just like yours read mine below yours.
Here is what I found out and if anyone inverter fails this is the reason.
Now my warranty was up, so with my screen going black, I had nothing to loose so I opened the TV and took the back off. I found that when the screen goes black the screen was extremely HOT so cooling it off I tried. I took the back off and kept off for two days, the TV did not freeze nor did the screen go black either it was on even when I was not watching it just for test sake some times when I could feel the hest I put my house fan on pointed at the back of the TV and up till now, no more black screen, so I went to the audio store and bought a 110V amplifier extractor FAN cut a ROUND hole in the plastic back panel of the TV over the transistor heat sinks and bolt it up. I am no technician so I did not connect the fan to the TV circuit board but instead put a plug on the wire and plug it in my cable box power plug,
So whenever I turn the cable box on the fan would come on with the TV. I Put the back on and the screen is cooler the remote respond the TV does not freezes and for 4 days now the TV will work until fall asleep and get up to turn it off. The fan makes a little sound but not much more than a computer if you have a good technician you can have him install 2 small 12V computer fans and find some where on the circuit board to connect then so they work with the TV power supply. I sure hope my problems are over and this will help you. Try to keep the TV away from close quarters and hot walls .This TV runs hotter than a ctr TV.
As for LG the TV needs a proper cooling system + small cooling fans and more cooling ports on the back of the TV ,cause there is only 1 small vent about 2 X 3 inches below the heat sink and heat does not go down everybody knows heat goes up. The vents at the top are not enough to cool this TV without aid of extractor fans. LG should test TV in a hot room to simulate hot homes in summer times to see the defects. Shame on LG to let a simple costumer find this out. My house is not hot, I live at least 1600 feet above sea level in the rural of Jamaica and it rains every day so it is not a hot house problem. Heat dissipation is a real killer for this TV and any inverter failure. Talk to your technician and try my theory,
If your warranty is up the he only thing you have to loose is your TV.
