Help with finding a low profile video card

I am looking for a low profile video card for my Dell Optiplex GX270 Small Form Factor. Do sell one? The card must be 128 MB and mate with a PCI bus. I have seen some of your cards that say PCI, but the interface on the bottom of the card is looks like this: ____ ________________ ____ as opposed to ____________________ ______, which is what I have on my computer. Will the former design fit?

Re: Help with finding a low profile video card

You will not find any good grpahics card on the pci platform anymore. the interface that you have seen is the pci-e interface which is the latest in use. better stick with the one u already have,

How do i upgrade My GPU in a dell Optiplex 745 Desktop Low profile?

Chris, let's back up just a second. Before you go for a new graphics card, just what problem are you trying to solve? If you're watching TV, the graphics you already have are likely just fine.

If you feel your system is slow doing regular stuff, more RAM may help, or a faster disk drive.

About the only thing a fancy graphics board will get you is faster screen updates for gaming. If that's what you're after, you may want to consider a full system update, with standard height case, 500 watt power supply and all of that....

Hi i am in need of a new desktop, however i have a graphics card i'd like to use in it (nvidia geforce 210, 1024mb ddr3, pci-e 2.0). The problem is that am trying to find one but am finding it hard,

It will work in any modern desktop (much older computers used to use a slot on the motherboard called AGP but this would be in desktops that are 5+ years old). PCI-e 2.0 is compatible with newer PCI-e 3.0 ports as well. The only thing to note is that you will want to avoid buying a SFF (small form factor) type desktop if your video card does not have low profile brackets.

I have a dell optiplex 210l, i just recently got a jaton nvidia 8600 low profile x1 pci card, it plugged in perfectly but it gave me a malfunction error on a blue screen, i took it into a computer repair...

The fact that you got a blue screen could either mean that the card is indeed faulty or that the drivers you are using are just out of date. You can download the latest video drivers for your 8600GT at the Nvidia website.

For a list of compatible video cards see my tip below:

I recommend not going for anything above a GeForce GTS 250 in the Nvidia range and a Radeon 5770 in the ATI/AMD range.

Dell mini tower will not startup and displays "x300 SE 64MB BIOS P/N 113-A26005-100" Restarting while pressing Del or F8 keys does nothing. Some web searching indicates a problem with a video...

Your card has been put into a legacy section by ATI/AMD and will probably not get any support further tahn it does now. They do offer a legacy driver that may, or may not work but, it's all that is available. You can get it here:
The driver tab is on left of screen and you will want to enter:
Componenet Catagory-click on arrow at righ and scroll to "desktop graphics", and select
Product Line-Radeon X Series
Product Model-Radeon X3xxx series
Enter your operating system then click on "search.
Make sure you uninstall prior softwsre prior to download of new. To answer your question, yes it is time for a new card. I would imagine you would want to go with another low profile card, and, one that doesn't require additional power hook ups.
Good luck,

Dell optiplex GX270

Hello sir, whats your problem with the graphics card? If your card does not display anything.... check first your CMOS setup, find the display first, this should be set to your graphics card. If the problem is pixelation, meaning garbage are being dump on your screen, this it memory problem on your graphics. You can do for now is clean contacts and terminals of your graphics card and slot. see if the problem disappear. If not pls. give a much detailed view of the problem.

Would like to upgrade Gateway Desk Top 500SE to a HD video

I don't think you can't do that without some major changes. The 500SE is a small format computer. The motherboard only has 2 PCI slots so you need to match that interface. NewEgg still sells the PCI video cards but I don't think they are HD

You need a more larger power supply. The current one is a 145 watt u-ATX Form Factor; you need at least 250 watts in that form factor (size)

A better choice might be a new motherboard. Look for board with a AMD Socket 7 if you want to keep this CPU. The motherboard will need to match the size of the current one to reuse the case. It's a uATX "like" form factor (7.4" x 9.35"). Also plan on a new power supply any AGP or PCI-e video card will want more than 350 watts (for the low end cards). Getting a new computer might be worthwile.

I hope this helps.

Problem installation video card

Hello Virna, i have that exact graphics card and dell GX270 desktop here at home, tho it has been awhile since i removed the Nvidia PCI card for a more favorable AGP card. From what i remember, first check your BIOS (hit F2 on startup) and select integrated devices, scroll down and make sure your default video output is either PCI (if available) or AUTO) exit saving changes. If that yields no result. Plug in a second monitor to your old integrated video output, if you can view windows after bootup from there, then you can install the proper Nvidia display driver for windows Xp (available here: ). After installing, right click on the desktop, select properties, display settings tab, and make sure the Geforce card is the main monitor and the desktop monitor. Click apply, unplug the integrated VGA output, and restart. Hope this helps.

Install Used ATI 7000 graphics card on Dell Optiplex GX270

OK, I got into Dell. Your motherboard should support an AGP card.

GX270 System Boards

Is there something in the green slot?

That is the AGP slot. If there is something in it, remove it. The ATI card should work in it if it is an AGP card.
