hey thanks, i dont understand why the lamp wouold blow so quick, for the price u pay for these things you'd expect to get what u ask for, but i geuss like u said with a buick or a jaguar it dont matter, they all have problems.. thanks alot, shouldnt those lamps last for like 2000 hours? why are they so cheap? i cant afford to pay 300 dolalrs every 2-3 months.. any suggestions on what kind of lamp to get, what make of lamp? i dont know much about them, but ill pay extra money for a lamp that will last the full 2000 hours... the model is cp-x327 -ED

right on, ya liek i say, im not a genius when it comes to projectors, i bought this one from a friend, got a good deal, but of course i gotta wind up with a problem, so yah i'll get a new lamp, try it,and if that dont work, well, liek u say, ill have a back up, i sure hope it works thoguh, i hate to spend more on the thing, id rather junk it,and buy a big screen tv that will last for years... thanks for the help , i appreciate it.

I search with that model and i come up blank.
can you take it out and see if it looks blown?
otherwise i would replace it and if it's not the problem you have a back up.

Sounds like the DLP lamp failed. You can decipher the Hitachi flashing red light. That should help to be sure.
The DLP lamp replacement is fairly straightforward and can be done with minimal tools

Hitachi cp-rs55 not working,tic.tic.... noise coming from project

make sure you reset the lamp timer. Manual has the steps. Hitachi Performa CP RS55 3 LCD Projector

if the timer is reset, try cleaning the color wheel. Optoma HD20 Projector Cleaning this video is for an optoma but the color wheel is cleaned the same way in most DLP projectors. Dirty or dusty color wheel sensors cause the projector to shut down and act like its the lamp.

No Picture

How many hours on the projector lamp? It is possible that it just reached the end of it's life. Most lamps have a life of somewhere between 4000 to 6000 hours of life. If your TV has PIP, try going to that mode. If you can see a picture in any of the PIP modes the lamp is OK. If that works, then it is probably a hardware issue on the video board. A service tech will have to diagnose your issue. Let us know the outcome and good luck.
