Help i tried to change a faulty on off switch on my sons ds lite and i messed up is there any way to bypass the on off switch i think i reuined the on off switch contacts pls help Ben
There is no safe way to bypass the switch permanetly. The easiest solution is to purchase a broken DS from the likes of eBay and switch the motherboards.
Then sell on the broken DS (with your motherboard) for parts as there is alwasy someone looking for different bits to repair there own model.

The red LED indicates low power. When the DS is charging an orange LED should be on and the DS can be switched on, giving a second green light. If you tried charging it but the orange LED did not come on or only came on for a few seconds then the battery has not charged. The charger may be faulty or the power connector on the DS may be faulty. You need to try another charger. If another charger does not work then the DS is faulty and needs repair. It could be the power connector or the battery or some other fault inside.
If the amber LED comes on to indicate that the battery is charging then the battery should be fully charged within 3 hours. If the DS does not switch on after charging then the battery may be faulty. It can be removed by opening the cover on the bottom of the DS.
You should try and find a friend with a DS who will let you try their charger and battery in your DS.
If the DS itself is faulty it will probably be uneconomical to repair. If this is the case then try selling it on ebay as a faulty DS.
Last time I had this I had to change the motherboard, tried for hours to find the fault. motherboards are about £50 if you have to resort to it. Make sure you are buying an original nintendo and not a copy
perhaps should be a problem with the Ds power supply with overvolt...try to change and test it with another Ds power supply... You said that the ds system is melted...If I were you I would open the Ds to search for damaged parts and try to restore it...or you can buy parts on ebay: http://www.diytrade.com/china/4/products/3354703/PSP_2001_Slim_Sharp_Original_Screen_Brand_NEW.html
Good Luck !!!
for ur sons DS try to move it around to find a signal. for ur daughter's, trying doing the same first and if it doesnt work, buy a new charger if the new one doesnt work its the DS
Normally, it should turn off by holding the power switch over for a couple seconds. If that doesn't work, the switch may be broken internally. You could try taking out the battery (though this probably isn't too good for it) or wait for the battery to die, then charge it and see if it does it again. If not, you may have to get it repaired.
